Lewis O'Brien

At risk of sounding repetitive, it wasn't a good indicator of his true value as he was in the final year of his deal at Hudds.

Also, Forest are unlikely to sell a good player to a relegation rival cheaply.
That's what badly run clubs do... đź‘€
Oh I don't know - I'm waiting for "Agent Berge" to go missing in their midfield performances :D

According to transfer market ( i know) Scabs paid 9.4 million euros, approx ÂŁ8 million.

I wanted O'Brien to compliment what we already had and think he'd be a good long term Fleck replacement if we continue to persist with the same system.

He's an intelligent, tidy player who would fit in well with us. But he's not going to vastly improve us either, just upgrade what we already have. I think 10m doesn't represent good value however.

Hes worth about 6.5m in my eyes. Chuck 3.5m on top of that if we stay up. I don't see how either Forest or United could think that's a bad deal.

O'Brien would also push Osborn and Fleck off starting positions for the season.

He’s worth 6.5mil but you want to pay potentially 10?

Even I could give Ozzy and Fleck a run for the money, Fleck has a broken leg ffs.

I am not sure anyone would see O'Brien as an improvement on Berge, and for a start he is a completely different type of player.

The key question is whether he is an improvement on what we currently have at LCM? No debate there surely?

Sadly, we are now at the mercy of the sellers, so will need to stump up what they ask for.

If we stay up yes. His worth is based on Forest not wanting or needing him. He's actually a very decent player who has just chosen the wrong team and would probably have played plenty of minutes for 5 or 6 other Premier League teams if he had moved to them instead and would probably we worth 15-20m (Premier League tax). He's also not a punt as is easily worth 6.5m (injuries apart there won't be a downside to that value. Both clubs want the move it makes sense for it to happen. He's a minimum 7/10 every week player and the stability of bringing him a player like him in sooner rather than later will do no ends for our team. He's also match fit

So the question is Rocket Man … is this happening? And of course… you heard anything else?

I've not seen enough of Souza to be able to judge it properly. I've only really got the YouTube vid's to go on and we all know how misleading those can be. What makes you think he isn't worth ÂŁ10m?
Those same videos. If his greatest attribute is winning the ball and booting it out of play or to a team mate 5 yards away he's not worth that much.

Ndiaye needs replacing. Berge needs replacing.

We must have a boat load of cash if we’re willing to spend 10mil for a position (LCM) 4th in the pecking order (including another forward)

What's the latest Rocket Man , how are we doing with bringing players in?
Souza? Akpom? O'Brien? Any news on Palmer? Interested in Hamer?

For me it becomes almost impossible to get information on the fast paced movements. The club also seems in some turmoil in the planning department (again not ITK) which makes information hard to come by. All current linked players aren't new names and are our basic list of targets we have been after for ages. We must have other options surely but nothing has yet been leaked. Its easier to get the ITK information on who we want, are they happy with our fee than all these other smaller contract finer details. We also seem to want to keep our plans wide open so we change them last minute and swap targets (sell berge means signing totally new players). It's all gone a bit Championship Manager and off strategy (seems to me / my contact)

I was going to advise of our revived interest in Chuckwuemeka a couple of days ago but before I could get around to posting I realised that even that possibility could have ended as Chelseas other player Nkunku is now injured.

The monoplisation of those with and those without really is kicking in now in the Premier League. In theory, we are almost below some Championship teams for the scraps as even Forest won't loan to us. City seem more likely to loan Palmer than McAtee based on us not seeing much of the ball etc.

I see left midfield as our number one priority (closely followed by an attacking midfielder).

Cheers mate! I appreciate you taking the time to write that and share it with us 👍

I don’t see how Obrien, having played no part of Forests survival last season, is untested in the prem and now a year older, is an improvement on Berge.

Worse still, it will now be a panic buy.
he wouldnt be coming to replace berge though would he plays on opposite side weve been rumoured to be after him for weeks ready made fleck replacement in our set up we would still have been after him if berge hadnt gone

Hang on…

If O’Brien has been “lined up for weeks” and isn’t Berge’s replacement (which I concur isn’t) why haven’t we signed him yet?

Souza has been rumoured for weeks, and people can’t make their mind up who he is meant to replace or which position he will play?

Slimani? He was signed first and also wasn’t to replace Berge, so where does he fit?

Ndiaye has gone and we haven’t got a replacement.

Berge is about to go and we haven’t got a replacement.

It’s a mess.

He’s a clear downgrade on Berge but then he’s not really his replacement. Good champ player but he’s not Prem level really. Upgrade on Osborn, which is what we need on the left. £8m is overpaying IMHO.

Hwang Ui Jo would also be a good signing from Forest IMO

Could try it on with a 9-10m double deal - because I think they'll want to offload him

Have they signed a new left back this summer? I know Lodi was only a loan. Toffolo would improve us.
Don't think so. I'd take Toffolo but that would basically mean giving up on Larouci which we won't do. We'll go with what we've got there, with god knows how many other positions needed. We might come to regret our LWB recruitment/lack of

Didn't Toffolo spend a good chunk of last season injured tho, they went for Renan Lodi on loan in January and he played every game between January and the end of the season as far as I can tell.

Lewis O'Brien is a solid pro. He knows his limitations and gives 100%. His ability is nowhere near Berge's but he's an upgrade on our current LCM options.

ÂŁ5m up front, ÂŁ5m in total add-ons predominantly weighted towards us staying up. We win, Forest win, O'Brien wins.
