Armstrong would've suited us so much more. Similar pace to Burke but with the actual ability and football brain to go with it. And some sort of bodily balance to enable him to not fall over whenever he has a chance of a goal.
i agree with you about armstrong think we should have taken a punt on him but he would have cost a lot more than burke who was only a makeweight in the callum robinson deal and isnt a natural striker like armstrong

I know, it's Brewster I'm on about not Burke

And if one of those 2 remaining keepers gets sent off or injured who is on the bench next game? Moore was out for months.

And before you say that's unlikely, how likely is it that we've had JoC, Stevens, Fleck and Ampadu injured around the same time?
outfield players being injured isnt a mystery mate. Its more likely to happen than your 1st & 2nd choice becoming inured at the same time

oh right sorry mind only got to look at mcburnies exploits in the championship its a different ball game scoring in the prem than in the championship if we can keep all our current strikers for next season we will finish top 6 imo

Wilder does remind me of Warnock in this respect. Signing players then hardly playing them then shipping them out. I do find it annoying. Jagielka, Moore, Rodwell, Foderingham. We’re probably talking in the region of 70 to 80 grand in wages a week there. Wages that could be put towards a quality midfielder or defender. Our scouting system, youth development and some of our signings leave a lot to be desired lately.

I'm sure all the lads look to Rodwell for advice
If Rodwell can't displace Basham on current form he may as well give up. Suppose Wilder doesn't want to disrupt the other side of the defence given the mess on the left but I've lost count of the times Bash has miscontrolled the ball into touch in the last couple of games.

We dont need 4 keepers. I dont understand the signing of Foderigham
Moore still doesn’t have full use of the required number of fingers Foderingham is effectively season long cover for Moore to rehab.

chris has made that mess on the left by playing kean bryan and max lowe both championship defenders at best jack robinson although not great is better than bryan and ben osborn should be in at lwb if endas not fit

One of the keepers simply has to go in January we don't need four. I have to wonder about retaining Jags and Rodwell especially the latter because there is something very wrong if an ex England international can't force his way into the right side of our midfield or defence at the moment. You have to question Lowe being at the club even the limited Osborn looks a way better player. Come next month we simply have to recall Freeman and Norrington Davis may as well give them game time here both are better options than the present back up. The jury is out for me on Bryan who is a bit of a bomb scare but does improve as the game goes on, is he really worse than Robinson who costs us a goal a game without fail?

Not going to disagree on Lowe but Bryan has done no worse than Robinson and at least shows a modicum of attacking intent. Osborn is better than Lowe but he is incapable of keeping the width required: every time he plays at LWB he chases infield when we don't have the ball and plays as another central midfielder. That said, the gap that leaves behind is probably no worse than having Lowe there. Our best hope is that Stevens is back fit on Sunday.

We've certainly had a few 'fillers' who will be on 'low wages' but 'low wages' are not insignificant at this level.

I know Ball_Sup (Phil) can put us right on the lack of readiness of the youngsters. But for what Rodwell gets paid as a 6th choice Midfield option, which probably means sub in a cup game, I'd rather that role go to Zac Brunt or someone like that and keep my 500k-1m in wages.

You might be gambling your job on Baldock staying fit. Why would you do that? If he gets injured, our system wouldn't work. The only system we play.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing but there was a general consensus we needed a back-up with Freeman leaving. Bogle is like 20 and hopefully will be with us for years. We can't by ready-made replacement so you have to invest in players for the future.

It's not like Wilder was trying to sign a midfielder but couldn't because he ran out of money. He simply seemed to stop after Swift
Like we didn't gamble with not signing another left sided centre back and the system not working? Oh, hang on...🙄

They all come across as one of those signing you'd make on Football Manager because he used to be good and you believe you can make them world class again, but you never do.

Jake Eastwood is 24 yrs old, it’s about time we decided whether he is 4th reserve keeper quality or not, and if not get rid of him as well. 8 yrs a professional goalkeeper & 25 games played.

Eastwood was out on loan for the season until he got injured

Hi, Stegosaurus here

Foderingham is an odd one. He's wank. Moore is better. I dont get it. Surely his 5 - 10 grand wages or whatever could have gone towards getting someone else.
Didn't Moore get a really nasty hand injury. We need 4 keepers until that is resolved at least

Agreed although I’d be inclined to say a decision probably has been made on him if not for an injury on debut he’d be playing up in Scotland right now and probably playing for a move. Logically that spot next year should be dewhursts so as not to block his pathway.

When you have limited resources, especially in comparison to your direct opponents you have to be creative. Have less players, have players covering multiple roles, look for players in places other teams wouldn't.

Instead we have decided that not having 25 would be embarrassing? I can't imagine another reason for some of the signings we made.

If I had to gamble on either Baldock staying fit or United having a desperate need for a midfielder with some athleticism or creativity and I can't do both I get the midfielder in.
Exactly - and both Bash & Burke can play RWB anyway.

He stopped when he realised no club was daft enough to come in for Lunny

they have what the squad was short of prem experience
its not by prem standards much of an outlay to get this much experience
comes in handy in training as much as on the park

again name any team that tries not to have some prem experience in a prem squad
and dont try and say jags offers no insight after being among the countries top central defenders

villa took john terry not to play but advise
Maybe he can advise Egan how to grow 3 inches or at least how to deal with the straight ball over the top ?

They aren't that weird. They are just experienced back up players on presumably low wages. All clubs make signings like this. Man City signed Scott Carson, for example.
Our back up signings are literally nowhere near premier league level. Even Jagielka now, I do however agree it probably good to have his experience around but would you rather that wage go on someone that can actually get in the team and push Egan? You can see how bad our back up players are when Bryan/ Robinson comes in for O’Connell and Lowe comes in for Stevens they’re nowhere near ready.

I don't get how Jagielka makes this list, at all. He's been out second choice centre back since he signed. Last year if Egan wasn't available, he played. This season we can add Ampadu to the mix, but he's still needed as cover. Guatenteed if we hadn't extended him and Egan got injured, we'd all be criticising not keeping an experienced centre back, as a cheap option.

Rodwell I suppose is a cheap utility man, doesn't add much though. We've struggled defensively and in midfield and he can't even make the squad, think that says it all.

The goal keeper situation is an odd one, but I'd guess we were worried we wouldn't get one out main targets. I'm assuming the plan was to then move Moore on, but he picked up an injury. Can't imagine it's too easy to move an injured keeper on, if you need a keeper they need to be available. I'm sure he'll move on in January.
