If there's any truth in this it's because we are

a) desperate.
b) trying to give the illusion we are desperate.

No point in signing any fecker if this is the best we can do.

Realistically, who would you prefer Utd to sign Davalon given the ridiculous prices for players this summer, particularly strikers??

I'd rather we spent a relatively small sum on a young up and coming player with potential to progress, instead of what I guess could be £1 million plus on someone like Gregory.

Agreed. At this point I hope CW realized we are not heavy weights in this division and our best avenue for success will be to spend the millions on young and up-and-coming players with potential.

Who?

On those requirements I say that would cost £10m +

I would settle for Pacey and capable of 10 + goals this season, that should be around the £5m mark in this market and around our budget. God knows who though.

Sounds like a Lukaku or drogba type of player , anyone got 70 mill ,

Only way we get a player like this is signing from Europe which we ain’t , Bristol got Kodja and they signed another lad from France who looks decent .
3/4/5 million will get you a lot further in Europe than it will in the uk

Think gregory is an improvement on all our strikers he would be our first striker on the team sheet so yeah we should sign him as long as he’s not gonna cost more than 2/3 million.
He is 29 but deffo got 3/4 years left , could go for Bradshaw who is only 26

Not sure why Millwall would sell their main striker just two days before the window shuts.

He is 29, but 30 in a couple of weeks and whilst age shouldn't be the reason we don't sign him, the fact we would have all our 4 main strikers in their 30's is a cause for concern.

Are there any other clubs in the Championship that have all their 4 main strikers in their 30's?

Apart from that, I don't see were he takes us up a level

Such as? Would such a player score enough goals to keep Utd in the Champ?

I'm not the scout or manager.

How much would Gregory cost? How much difference would he make to our league position?

He won't come cheap in fee or wages, will have little resale value due to age and no time to develop as a result, and imho won't make much difference to our performances, especially against our likely outlay.

Just because we have some leeway with finances, if we're going to spend good money by our standards, then I'd rather use it on younger and proven. If we can't get those then don't spend millions on someone barely better than what we have, and of a similar age.

Chris said he had no interest in Gregory last night.

Much better option than Adam Armstrong.

Well done Chris. Top management.

And well done for lying in your interview yet again.

Sell Brooks. Sign Lee Gregory. That is genuinely as laughable as it gets.

You genuinely think criticising him on a forum is beyond the pale don't you?
No not at all, when it is done in a grown up, structured fashion I think there are instances where where things could have been done better and debates can be had around this.

You meanwhile constantly moan/criticise/belittle any transfer dealings, in a very bitter and child like fashion. You must have an excellent supply of toys for your pram.

With what we have achieved during Wilder's tenure it is astonishing that he has built such little grace with some of our fragile/fickle fans.

He literally said last night we have no interest in him. Wouldn’t read much into this, we arnt signing anyone this week.

I'm absolutely behind Wilder and I'm willing him to do well. I hate the thought of him leaving and it's very uncomfortable for me to criticise him. But for a while now he's been inviting criticism, and he's not immune to it.

You think you are a qualified scout/manager?

One of my favourite quotes came from Joe Mercer (when he was SUFC manager) when he shut up one of the SUFC directors who was questioning his tactics and team selections

Joe Mercer: What do you know about football, then?

SUFC Director: I have watched football for many years so I consider myself to be an expert

Joe Mercer: My wife has been sat next to me watching me driving my car for so many years, and she still cant bloody drive!

After the reaction of some fans would you feel like been open and honest with them?

Agree to some extent - but wilder has been around long enough to know how fickle all fans are.

Even after all he’s done for us he’s only a couple of results/performances away from a slaughtering.

Imo I feel we as a clubshould have done better with the resources he’s been afforded - we haven’t done much this summer and there is a portion of blame to go around here. That said a couple of decent loans and a win and people will be back on board.

That said I think it was a genuine answer and we just aren’t interested in LG

Is it possible Chris denied any interest because he was annoyed how Boro came in at the last minute and easily outbid us for Waghorn?
He has normally kept quiet or denied targets unless bids are made public so perhaps is reverting to that approach.

God knows, but after hearing we aren't getting any one in before Thursday I feel like that bloke at the beginning of Saving Private Ryan, wondering around on the beach looking for his arm.

No. But you don't think it's possible for fans to have reasonable judgement do you?
This is the bloke who implied the 'moaners' were crybabies yesterday for daring to complain about how things are going and question the fact Wilder picked the same dreadful line up as the other day.

Silent Blade? Oh we can but hope...
