In our last 10 league games: W4 D3 L3 - so 15 points from 10 games.

Average that over the 30 games that most teams have played and that's 45 points, which would put us joint 8th with Swindon and four points from the play-offs.

So, to draw a conclusion, I think we're actually performing well in the league over a decent chunk of the season. It's just the terrible Crewe result that sticks out, along with throwing leads away against Walsall, Notts County and Bradford in the three games preceding Crewe.

Thoughts?

I honestly think we turned the corner a while back in terms of form - we just need to be more ruthless and really go out and make other teams play the way we want. I do think we will compete well against Wolves, Brentford, Orient et al because our mentality may revert to the 'cup' mentality of setting up against better sides and tearing them a new one on the counter.

I also reckon a 3-0 or 4-0 win is on the cards at some point.

Certainly we are having the best form of a poor season but the fixture pile up, injuries, suspensions and cup run will all have an effect.

I think as others do that we will be ok but mid table mediocrity by May will equal a good end to the season after the disasterous start.

I wouldn't say 15 points from 10 games in League 1 is "performing well" as you put it - but it's obviously a lot better than what we produced under Weir. At the start of the season I expected us to finish top 6 as an absolute minimum - now I'd just settle for staying up.

You're far too charitable mate, it's been abysmal.

But, amongst the crap and depression there has been one major breakthrough of light......NIGEL is it's name.

I have hated most of this season, it affects everyone, the mails on all forums have been negative, quite rightly so, yet we're seeing a positive change on all fronts. I know only too well how easy it is to give undiluted praise and then see this return to slap us in the face. I just happen to think that we have a rather special manager. He feels right for this club, and if the board of directors get behind him in the summer we'll be looking at getting out of this toilet of a division next year. Clough has changed the way we play, the outlook of the players, and that's rubbed off on the supporters. Times are tight for many of us, so parting with my cash for something as unpredictable as football is always a risk. I just feel a lot better about this with Nigel at the helm, so come of Cloughie, let's have 3 more points against Brizzle UTB!

I think we have turned the corner, in fact win today and we've none a U turn but 8th in division 3 good? - it's abysmal failure for this club.

As a club we should be looking at 8th in division 2, in div 3 top two are the only acceptable poisons if we have to be here.

The points I made about 8th place are within the context of this utter piss pot of a season. So yes I do think '8th-place form' over the last 10 games is acceptable because if it stays like that we should avoid relegation - which after the Weir debacle looked like a miracle.

We've just won our last three games, i.e. 9 very valuable points, but we're still only 3 points off the relegation zone.

Much more work to be done yet.

You got tonight's Lottery numbers? :D

Excellent stuff today. We opened with all the excitement and magnificence of a Wagnerian opera. Never let Bristol settle - I think we made a decent team look poor - so much so that their fans were taking the piss out of them long before the end.
Every ball was contested. Baxter conducted affairs with the flair of Zubin Metha (Stop it. Ed.) As against Forest, there wasn't a single poor performance. Flynn & Murphy - both magnificent and young Arthur (Scougal) improves with every game.
'arry's run late in the first half summed up our spirit.

Bring on Charlton!

I sat with a long-time supporter today, lovely guy and we chatted throughout. The performances of the team, especially Murphy, Flynn, Baxter for orchestrating affairs and that penalty, Brayford for his first goal, the defence for being tighter than a nun's arse, Howard for another reliable performance, Scoogs for.....well just being Scoogs. What would a couple of decent forwards have done to that defence? And for the little time he came on, I liked the look of Davies. Me and the other guy had a great day talking, comparing thoughts, enjoying the football etc.....Clough has made BDTBL a place I'm enjoying going to once again.

If you took the last 6 games yesterday, we were 16th in the form table.
If you look at it now, we're 8th in it.

Peterborough are currently 3rd in that form table, about a month ago they were probably bottom of it.
Early in the season they won 6 in a row. Later they lost 5 in a row.
Later still they lost another 4 in a row. Now they're W4 D1 L1 for their last 6 games.

At one point, Brentford were W2 D0 L4 over 6 games. The next 14 they went W13 D1 L0.

Point being, you can't just draw a line at a point when your team team started winning a bit more and use that as an accurate table. Form isn't a constant in one direction. We could now go and lose 6 on the bounce. Hopefully not obviously.
We've won 3 games in a row, but let's not forget we've played Gillingham, Shrewsbury and Bristol City. Nobody who has reached 40 points yet, nevermind top teams. And the game before that, we lost 3-0 at Crewe!

Surely it's better to win 6 pointers than teams at the top in our current plight?
