So far we’ve played 26 games and from a possible 57 points from teams outside of the top 6 we’ve take 49 points - 15 wins and 4 draws from 19 matches at an average of 2.57 points per game.

This is remarkably consistent and shows that despite the injuries we don’t slip up against the weaker teams. We now don’t play a team in the top 10 until the Middlesbrough game on the 12th Feb and we only have 3 more games against teams in the top 6 - having played two of them twice already. So the fixtures are really now in our favour.

To counter that we’ve only taken 5 points from 7 matches from teams within the top 6 with an average points per game of 0.714.
Probably something to be concerned about if we do end up in the play-offs.

But the top 6 is ever changing, so the stats are not correct Blackburn were 6th we went there and won 2-0 so is that not 3 points against a team in the top 6 because 2 months after we played them they are not in the top 6 ?

Blackburn aren’t top 6 now though are they so we havent beaten a team currently in the top 6. It doesn’t really matter though does it. My point was more that we’ve struggled against the top teams but the rest of the dross we’ve seen off fairly comfortably and we have a lot of those teams to play coming up

Watford were 2nd when we beat them at Bramall Lane but they haven't been anywhere near since.

No we haven't beaten a team currently in the top 6 that is correct, but we have beaten teams that were in the top 6 when we played them

Plus we’ve played 14 of the 26 matches away from home as well.

We're playing at the absolute maximum this squad can achieve I think.

It's a good thing, because it's got us to where we are.

The lack of anyone wide left, limitations up front and some inexperience around other parts of the team is probably why we're not performing as well against top 6 sides. Hopefully JTW can help that
