What doesn't he do that upsets you so much,at the moment he is a replacement for whoever is not available ,I've seen a lot worse pull on a blades shirt over the years you can't fault him for effort and if the manager plays him on the back of that !! It's the manager you should take to task or are you scared all the Wilder .lovers will shout you down ?.

I've had a couple of IPA's, so I'll bite. :) He's as limited in his technical ability as he is in both his creative thought and ability to react to a situation. He is reductionist in every single aspect of his play when all we ask of him is to be mildly expansive. He acts as a black hole for a lot of our play, sucking the beauty out of it and either frustrates or breaks down our play when he's gets involved in it. He manages to slow us down when we need speeding up and vice versa, he plays short balls when a longer pass is needed, he plays ridiculously telegraphed cross field Hollywood passes that are easy to cut out, and for whatever reason he lacks the ability and mobility of a modern CM to the point of utter fucking embarrassment, so bad it's as if he's got some sort of congenital defect. His presence on the pitch and his shortcomings obviously have a sub-conscious effect on his teammates because, as his appearance to win ratio suggests, when he plays, the other 10 either don't or alter their play to accommodate him sufficiently to alter our overall effectiveness. Which is quite an impressive stat. 90% fail to operate fully on the changing of 10%. To my untrained & jaundiced eyes, he is poor at passing, poor at shooting and poor at reading the game. He appears to lack an understanding of the basics of the game of football and the nuances it presents in 90mins. He basically is a bang average average L1 player who must think all his Xmas's have come at once. As far as I am concern how he is still at the club is a mystery, and he follows in a long tradition of Gannon, Rogers, Hoyland, etc of totally anonymous CM's who aren't good enough to wear the shirt of the cub I love. He's the human embodiment of a ball and chain around the nubile ankles of our midfield. It's a damning indictment of his lack of ability that a championship/home international journeyman like Norwood appears god like in comparison, and an equally damning indictment of Louis Reed and/or Regan Slater's ability that neither could/can replace him on the subs bench. We've now got to a stage where we cheer him for a robust challenge or congratulate him for not being the worst player on the pitch for us. Jesus. H. Christ, we have well and truly embraced mediocrity.

Other than that, I'm really happy he's a United player and wait to be proven wrong. :)

Not a fan then !!

Based on his interview, it sounds very much like we might see the side that played vs Villa restored in full for Saturday. Quite a bit on the need to rotate the “high energy roles” of the strikers and wingbacks to ensure we were fresh. Clearly that didn’t work, but I can at least see what he was doing. I don’t particularly like seeing too many changes unless we’re coming off a poor performance, but if we had determined that we had to change things in these two home games, I would have gone with our strongest side last night. Reasons being:
  • It’s the tougher game, given Birmingham are lower than their performances have deserved and Preston are low on confidence
  • There was a need to respond immediately to the disappointment at Bristol City with an immediate win
  • With restored confidence last night it would have meant going into the Preston game on high, increasing the chances of another good result even with rotating some of the personnel.
So possibly a case of an understandable strategy that would have been better deployed with last night’s XI starting Saturday instead.

Now that's enough about Norwood's performance last night. What's your view on Lundstram?

:)

I consider myself a fairly chilled out, socially aware metrosexual, slow to judge and quick to embrace new ideas, life styles & belief systems. But what in the name of all that is holy was Norwood wearing on his feet last night? Slip on powder pink boots?!?!? When I was a lad, boots were black, the only tattoos you had were spiders webs on your elbows or ‘cut here’ on your neck and the only thing you splashed on yourself was embrocation for the body & a dab of Brut behind the ears, to get the ladies moist. Things have changed & not for the better. They be allowing women to play the bloody game next!.......oh ;)

I need to give that IPA a tryout .....

I blame the wind mate. Fleck wasn't fit either, very little running. Playing within himself. We'll destroy Preston Saturday.

I spoke to wilder about a player we missed out on before the start of last season, he was ok, then I asked if we didn’t have the money for him, he pulled a face stared at me and walked off.. he won’t tolerate probing where he has to commit himself on major issues like money or weather a player is up to it in your opinion, even if you work on radio..

You’re not his boss, or a football manager... and he knows how far a slipped word or two goes these days, hence the tranfers in the door now before anybody has a clue... smart guy.. we are lucky..

Just best if you get a selfie and say UTB....

Come rain or shine.
