I read an article on the BBC website about the myth of "Fergie Time" and whether or not it actually exists (http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-20464371). There is a spreadsheet to download from there which shows a bit of analysis of the amount of added time different teams have received over the last 3 seasons and also a list of all teams who have played in the Premiership and the amount of injury time goals they have scored. According to that, United have only scored 2 injury time goals in the Premiership, which over 3 seasons is a pretty poor return. Jags against Boro in 06/07 was one of them; can't recall the other.

We really don't score many late goals at all do we? Can't remember many since the Triple Assault season where we scored quite a few if memory serves me right.

In the premiership we struggled to score goals in the ninety minutes so why on earth is it a surprise that we only scored 2 in added time.

Wasn't it an injury time consolation at home v Reading?

i can recall a few from our promotion season (2005/06, unsworth v hull the stand out one ;)
i can only remember the jags goal v middlesbrough and gillespie v charlton which were late goals in the prem, (gillespies was the 88th minute though)

No, Hulse, 60 -70 mins, never threatened again...

Is the other the Gary Kelly own goal away at Leeds the season we went down in 93/94??? Or Flo at Southampton the same season....

BRAINWAVE: Blake, home to Newcastle???? Was that stoppage time????

Our best season for late goals has got to be 89-90 (and there were quite a few in 81-2 as well) when we seemed to get a last minute winner or equaliser on a regular basis. Got a mate who's a Leeds fan and at that the time he used to have a reet moan about United's f***ing late goals.

02/03 has to run them close though????

Favourite injury time goal was at Dinglewell ,think it was Bryson ,the only time ive invaded a pitch :)
I think Arnott at Southend was just inside the 90.

that season I stood with a mate of mine who would leave 5 to 10 minutes early to "beat the traffic". He missed 13 goals that season, about 10 of which were for us - it was a great ueat for late winners. His best effort was leaving the Brighton game when we were losing 4-3!

Darren I know you may have work to do, but I posted this 11 hours ago, you are slipping good sir...

BRAINWAVE 2!!!!!!!!!!

Gayle vs Leeds, in the 2-2 draw on Deano's return???

Old toblerone boot, surely not???? (I do remember it was from about 1 inch)

Sorry, you're right - it was Gayle, not Beesley.

The reason Beesley sticks in my mind from that day was due to something that happened in the second half. This was very early in Nathan Blake's United career, and for some reason Bassett was keeping him on the bench despite the fact that we couldn't score goals.

Blake and Beesley started warming up after Deano scored for them, and the kop started chanting "we want Blake!" for a minute or so. When this chant ended, a few guys sat near me started chanting "we want Beesley!", causing many people, including Beesley himself, to crack up...

Beesley's late goal around that time was in the home game against Burnley the season before, but that was a cup match...

And in another non PL affair, Blake scored his second in a 2-0 win over Burnley in 1994-5 with literally the last kick of the game - there was no time to kick off again. I think that's the only time I've ever seen that happen.

Atkins at Millmoor was last minute I think
This goal crops up in many peoples memories and on here lots too. It was classic for me because I went in with the Rotherham fans because my brother is a part time Rotherham fan and took me to the game.

I think there was one by John Francis which was pretty special, to make us win 5-4.

Everyone on the Kop went effing Crazy!

The one that really sticks out for me was Asaba away at West Brom in a match just before Xmas under Warnock. Down to 10 men, defending manfully, deep into injury time the ball breaks to Pesky....it seemed like from 40 yards he tried to chip Russell Hoult,it beat him but hit the bar,and Asaba, ran in for a diving header . Absolute mayhem on the away end with middle aged blokes falling down chairs in celebration. Took my 3 kids to that one, they hadn't been to many away games at that stage (and lost them all)but after that they have been hooked ever since(poor sods)

There are many to choose from over the years (is there anything better than a last minute winner?).

It wasn't as last minute as it felt at the time, but I particularly enjoyed Del Geary's late (and rare) goal against Millwall at the Den a few years ago, mainly down to it's obscurity... We'd seen Kenny sent off at half time because Muscat is a twat, no sub keeper so Jags in the net for 45mins + stoppage time and to see Del smash in a winner and it clearly mean the absolute world to him in front of the jubilant blades fans was fantastic.

Set up a good night in London too, as it was on to see the Beautiful South at Hammersmith afterwards.

Talking of last kicks, all 4 of the the pen misses in last seasons play off final - by Williamson, Taylor, Lowton and Somonsen - were those players' last kicks as United players, which must be some sort of obscure record.
