Sheffield Council did us a big favour rejecting that in hindsight.

Too right, I didn't think it was possible to get fans any further from the pitch than at Bramall Lane.
Also there'd have been no room for the hotel on Bramall lane end

Fully agree in trying to hamstring us the likes of Betts on the Council who rejected it inadvertently did us a favour.

Leaving Aside the horrible design It would have been an utter disaster to embark on such a risky venture in the boom and bust 80s

What would the capacity have been looks well under 20k
At the time as far as I can recall it was 30,000 'ish all seater, preempting Hillsborough disaster and the Taylor report by several years.
Hated the design at the time and also hated the piggy council for blocking it o_O

I think your right but it doesn’t look bigger than the Lane does now at just over 30k

What the smeg is that little building to the left of the South Stand on Bramall Lane meant to be?

It could be bloody anything looking at the rest of it!

What’s on the back of the kop? Looks like boxes facing out!

And it’s great how they couldn’t get the John street and kop to tie in back then either

I think the capacity was going to be nearer 50k and when it got rejected Brealy lost interest in pumping money into the club for incoming transfers ... so yeah the council did us a reyt favour ... and then they went and got the city in hock with the Don Valley disaster that we're still paying for now (when they've have paid zero if they'd have given the Lane development the green light).

Yep on the back of that rejection it did us a right favour. Look at how we have been on the up ever since. Best period in our history followed.

Love the retro style floodlight pylons, will they make a comeback like vinyl :)

To be fair it was designed in the 80's and would be 37 years old now if it gone ahead.
Equally remember what the ground was like in the 80's the old John St and the kop, at the time the above plans would have been a major improvement on what we had then.
Stadium designs have also have come on 1000 fold in 37 years.
At least the back of the kop would have been undercover something thats still needed today.
