Sheffield Council did us a big favour rejecting that in hindsight.

At the time as far as I can recall it was 30,000 'ish all seater, preempting Hillsborough disaster and the Taylor report by several years. What would the capacity have been looks well under 20k
I think your right but it doesn’t look bigger than the Lane does now at just over 30kAt the time as far as I can recall it was 30,000 'ish all seater, preempting Hillsborough disaster and the Taylor report by several years.
Hated the design at the time and also hated the piggy council for blocking it![]()
The kop looks like they’ve cut a picture of some South American World Cup ground out of a sticker book and plonked it onBits of 4 different grounds banged together. William Burroughs’ “cut up” technique for writing ... transposed to architecture![]()
No I don't think it was and the main reason I hated it was it would have been almost impossible to expand in the future short of complete rebuild.I think your right but it doesn’t look bigger than the Lane does now at just over 30k
What the smeg is that little building to the left of the South Stand on Bramall Lane meant to be?
It could be bloody anything looking at the rest of it!What the smeg is that little building to the left of the South Stand on Bramall Lane meant to be?

What’s on the back of the kop? Looks like boxes facing out!
And it’s great how they couldn’t get the John street and kop to tie in back then either
View attachment 51604 These pictures, dated 1982 and showing a planned redevelopment of Bramall Lane, have just been discovered in The Star's archive. It's fascinating to see how the ideas proposed then are being mirrored now.
Think it was the inspiration behind the Pukka Pie Corner in the opposite corner. Never been able to see any point in that either. What the smeg is that little building to the left of the South Stand on Bramall Lane meant to be?
Old Wembley? At least it would have been the worlds best speedway stadium!!
And it had the mini pylon on top of John Street. I miss that pylon. I love a good floodlight me.Love the retro style floodlight pylons, will they make a comeback like vinyl![]()
