Seems that the club has no urgency at the moment- no urgency to attack on Saturday despite being 1-0 most of the game and no urgency in the transfer market. Really really worried for us this season, the squad needs a reshape desperately otherwise I feel we might do a Sunderland 17/18.

I can't help thinking people are just trying to out do each other in how far they can take the overreaction to Saturday.
“It’s only one game”
Remember saying that after our 2-0 home loss to wolves last season...

I kinda side with the op, although I think its even worse and we're another Bolton destined for div 4 within 4 seasons..

I'm serious too

Oh come on Royston, what's wrong with shear PANIC!! ??

I remember everyone shitting it at the start of Wilders first 3 seasons too. You simply can not predict what is going to happen in 45 games times when the manager has had one match in charge. We might go down but there's absolutely no logic behind the prediction right now.

Arghhhhhhhh! It’s only been one game!!!!

last time we were in the championship, we didn’t win the first two matches!

god knows what this forum will be like if we lose to Swansea…..who ironically was one of the teams we lost to in the opening matches of the 2018/2018 season.

for me it’s the fact that we’ve dropped down a league, played against a team with much less quality (bar Chong) and barely laid a glove on them- at least we were in the Swansea game and actually created some chances, I know it’s a new manager and we’ve had no preseason but if just feel like the players we have (in particular midfield) will still be lacking confidence and bringing their crapness from last season into this one.

He's going to play possession based football. This will be a culture shock for our fans. I suspect I'll be reading lots on here about how we should be moving it quicker and going more direct.

Realistically we will more than likely be bottom with no points after the first 3 games, but we've got a decent manager who should be able to improve things if given time and money

His team selection for the first game was quite concerning tho and suggests he doesn't know the players yet

On what basis do you reach this conclusion? I think you need to keep the faith!

This was the reaction of this board after Wilders first 4 games .

If I was a betting man I'd hamper a guess that we'll flog Ramsdale late in the window & then panic loan / buy a few in the final day or two.
If the reports are true about having players lined up ready for when we sell a player than I don’t mind losing rammers as it’ll mean we get 5 new faces in but I don’t see anyone matching our valuations for him or berge

To be fair Roy, it's all about context.

We were in league 1, we'd come off the back of Adkins, Clough, Weir, Wilson, Adams, Speed, Blackwell, Robson.

I think it was perfectly right to panic after those 4 games. Hindsight is great. Let's go back to after Weir's first 4.

Now, I'll be much more concerned if we don't sign anyone than if we lose the first 3. I don't think we'll go up anyway, but not signing anyone sets alarm bells going for me. I'd be happy with mainly loans but there's something very wrong if we can't afford loans.

We had very similar comments after the first two losses in our Championship promotion season. I'm not saying everything is going to be ok, I just think it's impossible to predict. I'll be amazed if the team we had out on Saturday is anything like the one that ends the season so how can anyone know what's going to happen under a new manager who hasn't had more than 1 proper game with us?

We haven’t signed anyone yet. Not a single player. Whilst I’m aware that the window hasn’t “slammed shut” yet, the season has actually started. I don’t expect us to do all our business before the first game but a couple in, one even, would have been nice.

My concern is that it’s starting to look a bit like the Adkins season, where the board thought the only problem was the manager and that by replacing him, the problems had been solved. I don’t know what Slav had in his head but the starting line up was as if he’d just got off the plane and had never seen us before. I’m worried that PA is out of his depth, he’s taken on too much with United World and underestimated what Wilder had done for the club while overestimating his own role in our promotions.

I appreciate it’s been a very difficult pre-season and that may be the cause of some of these problems but right now, it looks like we’re sleepwalking. Not to relegation but to miss out on promotion. If we don’t get this right in the next three years, PA is fucked, he can’t afford to put in the money that other owners do.
I hope I’m just being pessimistic after a poor game but I’ve been watching football for a long time, not just us, football in general and I’m seeing too many patterns that I’ve seen before.

On balance, the two factors stated by the OP bear relevance.

Transfers: Firstly, no one has come in with any great seriousness for our revered goalkeeper and midfield general. Why? Because neither is neither. If there was a Sander Berge shaped hole in a Premier League team and he actually looked like he had the potatoes, he'd have been gone, whatever the cost. And our Aaron, bless him. Being selected as first stand in for the England Euros squad doth not make £30m worth of top six shot stopper especially as the season before last you saw a heck of a lot of goes on goal whistle past you and last season, for at least two thirds of it, you looked like you were shitting your pants. Badly. And as for inbounds, well, given we've spunked many, many millions of half a team of duds, and are now propping up the second tier of English football, who'd want to come along and be part of that?

And the 'urgency to attack' was there to be seen. Yammers goalie mud free all game.

I mentioned the other week that Robson tried the same change to a tippy tappy passing style….and my concern was SJ might suffer a similar fate.
In early games under Robson we totally controlled the game having masses of possession.
Our control of the centre circle was impressive with loads of short passes but our attacks were always slow
We looked pretty good but like on Saturday we never looked like scoring
Also there was little goal mouth action at either end…..our fans hated this version of the patient passing game with many screaming “gerrit tin box”

I think there are genuine concerns but nobody has a clue how we are going to look by the end of this month let alone by the end of the season.

Maybe. The whole pre-season/season so far has been a disaster. We've got a good manager and that's about it. Whether we have a squad that can play the way he wants to has sprung up as a potential issue, but early days as you say.

I'm not panicking. I don't think most people are. I genuinely thought we'd do some rebuilding and end up somewhere 6-9th this season. That hasn't happened, which does worry me. We've obviously started late, which would be hilarious if we missed promotion by 2 points, but I'm reaching concerned.

If this was porktalk they’d be sayin
“Every season we’re going to loose 1 game. That’s it out of the way.HMSPTL has set sail

We’re saying we’re going down

Maybe somewhere in the middle may be nice….
