So Loughboro you are totally discounting the fact that we can't afford his wages and Boro with the parachute payments can?

I've found the original BBC report on our "exciting" deal with Spurs:-

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/s/sheff_utd/8144711.stm

'Walker will return to Bramall Lane on loan as part of the deal with Spurs, and the Blades will also be able to take Tottenham players on loan. Sheffield United boss Kevin Blackwell said: "Having Walker available is a very important part of our strategy and it's exciting to have the chance to talk with Tottenham and judge whether any other of their players might fit into our squad. If we think that someone could help us we could take them on a short-term loan and if required, extend it to a season-long arrangement after that.'

Clearly, there is nobody at Spurs (including Naughton) who might fit into our squad. What a load of old bull****!

In Blackwells eyes maybe there isnt, their players probably have too much creativity and not enough tracking back skills ;)

At the end of the day Gary, he's a player that doesn't play for Sheffield United anymore. If that's at Spurs, Boro or Donny papergirls who cares? If playing for us was that inportant he'd have told his agent to fuck off last season.

I can't see why the wages for Naughton should have been a problem - after all it was said any money from the Killa sale would be re-invested in the team. We haven't bought anyone out of that money so there should have been plenty to pay KN with.

As for possibly not wanting to pay all his wages, well that's up to the board but I'd have paid it, he'd have been the best player in the squad. Unless you have a good scouting network that's able to identify quality on the cheap (WBA - Dorrens etc), then if you want quality, you're gonna have to pay for it.

What about the money for Kalio, Nyron, Yeates, Cresswell?

Its got nothing to do with wages ,Utd and Spurs agreed a deal for him to come back ,Naughton will not play for our present manager.

.....Naughton will not play for our present manager.

I love these proclamations of which player will or won't play for which manager.

Be great if you could behave like an enormous child at you place of work;

''Work on a project with HIM? Oh no. No chance. I can't stand him. I'll thqeuam and thqueam if I have to sit in a meeting with him''.

From what little I know I believe that to be total bullshit.
Unless you have something substantial to back this up I'll stick to what I've been told. Others can make their own mind up.

When is Seip due back?
When everyone is fit I presume it'll be him and Morgan at CB with NN and Kallio as the rest.

Still not three bad.

Agreed. A loan move to another Premiership club would be preferable from Tottenham and Kyle's point of view and I can fully understand United not being able to compete with that. I'll be gutted if he goes to Middlesborough though and I'm struggling to understand why he would choose them over say Hull.

why would a loan to a prem club be better for naughton - walker has done so well at SUFC theyve recalled him.

It will be a tough one for Naughton a Blade, his playing well for them could finish us off in the playoffs.

Yes, such a devoted Blade is he that at the first whisper from his agent he was off like a scalded weasel to Spurs. He'll not give a fuck about us now he's a Premier League Billy-Big-Time.

what absolute nonsense

what absolute nonsense

Nice of you to quantify your statement with a reason why. Why is it nonsense? If Kyle Naughton really wanted to stay at United he would have chosen the club he supports over the money he craved. He chose the money, and left. He could quite easily have told his agent that he didn't want to go.

so you dont think the club cashed in?? you dont think the club sold him to spurs over everton?? if you believe all this tosh about agents that mccabe spews out every time he sees the pound signs then you must be mad!

Of course the club screwed the best deal they could. And I'd be damned annoyed if they didn't. But Naughton took the money too. As pointed out already, he didn't have to leave. He was freely available to see out his contract. He wanted the cash. End of.

Bobbins, absolute bobbins. It is horribly unfair to have a go at Naughton, with that move to Tottenham he would have secured the financial future of himself and family. Look at Ben Doane, looking a promising young player then next minute his career his over. Also, add to the fact United were delighted to sell them off to get some money in.

Naughton might be a United fan, or might have just played for United, I don't care, it doesn't matter one jot to me, making him sound like the bad guy isn't on.

I don't know Kyle Naughton, don't know his mum, girlfriend or baby hamster but he came across to me in interviews as a fairly level headed kid. I don't think it was a case of him just chasing the dollar. Great players, and he was and is a great player belong in the Premier League, if United were to deny him his chance of his move to Goodison Park I don't blame him one iota for moving to Spurs. In one signature he has set up his family for life and given himself a great opportunity to be the best he possibly can, because unfortunately as much as it pains me to say it, he isn't going to do that at Sheffield United anymore.

If he was wank and United released him I doubt they'd have been cries of "how dare United sell a Blade", he'd have been a fucking muppet to stay at United all his career.

But you can't have a go at the club for selling him when he quite rightly wanted to go to Spurs, that's the point.
If Kyle had wanted to stay he would of done it's as simple as that, you can't make a player leave, look at the hassle we had with Hendrie as evidence of that.

I've only caught the arse end of the debate so I'm not exactly sure what's been said before.

I infer what happened was that United had to raise some revenue and when the bidding war started from Spurs & Everton Naughton and perhaps Walker were told that the club needed to sell. Yep, they could have kicked their heels in but why would they? It's not like they were being shipped to Coventry.
They may well have gone even if SUFC desperately tried to keep hold of them, but in my opinion we'll never know.

You can't make a player leave but the circumstances surrounding the KN & KW would have made it much easier for the pair of them.
