So Loughboro you are totally discounting the fact that we can't afford his wages and Boro with the parachute payments can?

I've found the original BBC report on our "exciting" deal with Spurs:-
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/s/sheff_utd/8144711.stm
'Walker will return to Bramall Lane on loan as part of the deal with Spurs, and the Blades will also be able to take Tottenham players on loan. Sheffield United boss Kevin Blackwell said: "Having Walker available is a very important part of our strategy and it's exciting to have the chance to talk with Tottenham and judge whether any other of their players might fit into our squad. If we think that someone could help us we could take them on a short-term loan and if required, extend it to a season-long arrangement after that.'
Clearly, there is nobody at Spurs (including Naughton) who might fit into our squad. What a load of old bull****!
I can't see why the wages for Naughton should have been a problem - after all it was said any money from the Killa sale would be re-invested in the team. We haven't bought anyone out of that money so there should have been plenty to pay KN with.
As for possibly not wanting to pay all his wages, well that's up to the board but I'd have paid it, he'd have been the best player in the squad. Unless you have a good scouting network that's able to identify quality on the cheap (WBA - Dorrens etc), then if you want quality, you're gonna have to pay for it.
.....Naughton will not play for our present manager.
Its got nothing to do with wages ,Utd and Spurs agreed a deal for him to come back ,Naughton will not play for our present manager.
Agreed. A loan move to another Premiership club would be preferable from Tottenham and Kyle's point of view and I can fully understand United not being able to compete with that. I'll be gutted if he goes to Middlesborough though and I'm struggling to understand why he would choose them over say Hull.
It will be a tough one for Naughton a Blade, his playing well for them could finish us off in the playoffs.
Yes, such a devoted Blade is he that at the first whisper from his agent he was off like a scalded weasel to Spurs. He'll not give a fuck about us now he's a Premier League Billy-Big-Time.
what absolute nonsense
Nice of you to quantify your statement with a reason why. Why is it nonsense? If Kyle Naughton really wanted to stay at United he would have chosen the club he supports over the money he craved. He chose the money, and left. He could quite easily have told his agent that he didn't want to go.
so you dont think the club cashed in?? you dont think the club sold him to spurs over everton?? if you believe all this tosh about agents that mccabe spews out every time he sees the pound signs then you must be mad!

Of course the club screwed the best deal they could. And I'd be damned annoyed if they didn't. But Naughton took the money too. As pointed out already, he didn't have to leave. He was freely available to see out his contract. He wanted the cash. End of.
UTB
But you can't have a go at the club for selling him when he quite rightly wanted to go to Spurs, that's the point.
If Kyle had wanted to stay he would of done it's as simple as that, you can't make a player leave, look at the hassle we had with Hendrie as evidence of that.
