Thought he deserves his own thread, stood out a mile last night, I said on the way out that he'll be dropped on Saturday I hope I'm wrong. Also thought Little did well.

Yeah I agree. Reid was the only player to come out the game with any credit last night.
Finally it looks like we have a winger who can take full backs on and get past them!

I really hope he plays on Saturday but wouldn't be surprised if he didn't!

Reid did do well in the final third of the field, tricky, quick and picks a good and subtle ball out with his final pass, however, a la Cotterill I wonder whether his work in the other two thirds of the flank warrant him a starting place. Flank players invariably have to able to do a bit of everything these days.
Little looked quality and his delivery at corners was excellent, he is more likely to get a start Saturday than Reid maybe?
Negatives (and there were many!) - Andy Taylor does not look the answer to plugging Gary Naysmith's absence, he is very average at best so far. Not strong, average pace, decent left foot. looks Div 1 or 2 standard; obviously early days for a real judgement but the 3 times I've seen him so far have given the same impression.
Bromby - At 28 and all his career spent in Championship or Premier, you'd think he wouldn't need a minder like Morgs at the side of him to make him play! he was like a rabbit in the headlights last night - indecisive, shaky and outmuscled by a bloke given numerous free transfers at lower levels.
France - again, very average and initially at fault for 1st goal.
Quinn & Howard - depressing, at the very best!

Hopefully Saturday will be a better platform to judge us on - I don't have high hopes the morning after the night before ....we shall see ..

I totally agree about Reid. The First time I saw him in pre-season I said I think he'd be an extremely important player for us this season. I'm sticking by that.

Why isnt he being played!

I've asked that all season. It really, really annoys me.

Cresswell got to come on as a sub the day we signed him while Reid sat on the bench.

Reid's not been on the bench these last few games which I'm confused as to why. Not heard anything about an injury.

The 40ish minutes we've seen him in the league so far I think he's looked pretty good. Considering it can take 10 or so minutes for a player to get with the pace of the game.

Judging by the way he's played Cotts, it seems he's none too keen on out and out wingers who don't give the team something 100% of the time they're on the pitch. In the last 18 months we've had Halford, Billy and Wardy wide right, Cresswell, Wardy, Danny, Billy wide left despite having wide players either sat on the bench or not involved at all.

I'm surprised Treacy got the nod over Kyel considering Treacy's a loan player when to me there doesn't seem a lot between them. Odds on Cresswell will be wide left when he's fit and Wardy back wide right, bizarre.

He has been frozen out.

We are crying out for someone like him on the pitch.

Despite a good preseason, by all accounts, his few appearances have not been that bright. May be potential there but hardly the "answer" for our needs. Which are what? Just noticed that only three teams have scored more than us and only three have conceded more than us. Think I know which one I would fix (defence) and Reid is no help there.

Dunno. I thought when we signed Kyel that he was one for the future and wouldn't necessarily walk into the 1st team which I guess is what's happened but as I say, whilst I could understand us playing, say experienced Little there but Treacy is no more experienced and it surprises me that he's being picked ahead of him. Having said that, we don't see them in training day in day out !

I know there is one for the future thought about him but hasn't he had a good few games at this level for other teams? He didn't pull any trees up in my opinion and I maybe wrong but there was hardly a great clamour to sign him.

Why do people suddenly think he has turned into a match winner in the CCC when he has never really showed this elsewhere?

Don't get me wrong, he deserves a chance because we signed him and he may bring something different but I aint holding my breath.

He was on loan at Blackpool last season and my mates say he was brilliant at times but anonymous at others and still had a lot to learn. He finished the season at promotion winning Wolves but I don't think he featured a great deal for them. According to the official releases, we did beat a few teams for his signature but you never know who those teams are.

I think it's the usual fans comments mate, when things aren't going too well, we look to who isn't playing and tend to build them up saying they'll be the answer ! I just hope KB doesn't go all Warnock on us (if he hasn't already) and would rather go for journeymen than taking a chance on an unknown younger player.

I've only seen him when he came on as sub in the pre-season game at Lincoln. He looked lightning fast and very tricky but, having beaten his man, he didn't seem to know what to do with the ball. In short, his crossing and passing leave much to be desired.

Will he improve in time, or be yet another in the long line of headless chickens we have seen at the Lane?

Reid also turned down a contract at West Ham to get first team football.

I wonder if Kyle Naughton had had a dodgy first game for us whether we would have ever seen him again. Blackwell just won't give flair players a chance ,not when he can get another old pro who will run about like a nutter until he's knackered doing nothing.

And we just love a headless chicken at the lane....Littlejohn and Kabba anyone:thumbup:

Regardless of his quality and wether he's deserved more playing time or not, the way he's been used is exactly the way to make a young player fail at a club. Mentioned as the pick of a poor bunch in his one start in the league cup, he's not got another start, then thrown on in these five games:

  • Watford - 77th min. 2-0 when he came on.
  • Leicester - 73rd min. 1-1 when he came on
  • WBA - 79th min. 1-2 when he came on. (Full score 2-2)
  • Swansea - 87th min. 1-2 when he came on.
  • Scunthorpe - 61st min. 1-3 when he came on.

So Watford apart, when he's come on, we've been chasing games. He's basically had 15 minutes against oppositions who've been happy with the score, defending deep and holding on to the result. To expect a quick, flair player to find space to run into in such situations and excel with our playing style (certainly when we're chasing games) is asking a little much.

His comments after signing for us were ironic. If there was a recipe for making him fail, we've followed it to perfection so far.

Could of used him tonight.

May aswell pay me to sit on the bench and do fuck all week in week out.

Send him out on loan or cancel his contract if he isnt going to be used.
