From tomorrow Sheffield United’s catering partners Compass will be offering a new
system to our supporters wishing to obtain their half time refreshments a little more
quickly on the Kennedy’s Kop and GAC stands.

The new vouchers can be purchased before the game from kiosks on the concourses of
the above areas- they are designed solely at the moment for alcoholic beverages and are
sold “by the pint”.

The drinks will be poured in advance and it will be a simple case of exchanging the
voucher purchased for the drink required.

Compass Manager Dave Sheppard commented “we are always looking for ways in
which our fans can be served quickly and professionally at the time that is historically
the busiest- we genuinely hope that people will give this a try- it should cut waiting time
down dramatically”.

Great, now I have to queue up twice, how are the vouchers going to sort out the lack of mathematical ability in the staff and yes I hope I dont get the pint thats been sat there for 45 mins.

Will they still have guys with bottles, thats the best solution in my book

They should have some folk wandering about with those big lager filled rucksack things on their backs like they do at every other major event.

Sadly it'll be a pint lacking in vitality, flavour or character. Yet we have Kelham Island Brewery on our doorstop. How about a bit of imagination, Blades?

Personally I'd sooner drink the voucher.

It might help if the bar on the south side of the kop wasn't a 10 minute walk away. Still on a rainy day your pint might have more taste to it ;)

"Counterfieters" are easily caught out. Their inability to spell words correctly invariably gives them away. :)

Reminds me of some fake ID's my mate produced when we were young - we were all students enrolled at the Sheffield Collage!

What about the JSS or whatever we are called these days ? and can we have some brown sauce too, sick of nicking it from the Sheaf Island before the game.

I think the timing of the announcement could have been slightly better, as my man on the ground suggests that only around 50 vouchers were bought.

They're doing a fantastic job of keeping waiting time down to a minimum as it is. If they ever offered something that made me want to differ from leaving Dev Cat/Station Tap/Sheaf Island etc at 2.40, then they might have genuine queueing problems. Offering the ability to pay £3.50 or however much the crap they sell inside for and get it slightly quicker isn't really an incentive.
