They certainly will if the cash goes on players of the calibre of O hallorhallorhallorhan instead.

Quite. I accept we may need to take a flyer on players who we are uncertain will be regular scorers, but there's no justification for a penny being spent on someone who's proved he can't score goals if his life depended on it.

agreed.. it's a bit like having a bird who is out of your league (i'd imagine. heh).. when she finally runs off with a millinaire you might as well say it was good while it lasted and move on

If he stays I'll eat my bicycle. He's just too good to be playing at our current level.

He is, IF he can get/stay fit and keep a good attitude going. He played at our level last season because he couldn't put those things together on a consistent basis.
To me he was the key player of last season and yet he didn't start that impressively (took time to get fit) and missed two crucial phases of the season because of injury. Anyone taking him on at a higher level is taking a gamble (could be ideal for Colin).

obviously would love him to sign as imo a cracking player in league 1 but i just get the feeling that a chance to play in the champ next season is what mcdonald wants( with whoever comes in). hope im wrong. i think loyalty to clubs is sadly a thing of the past. for large parts of last season the matches were a pleasure to watch , the support was great esspecialy the away games . can you imagine what it was like as a player ? in kmacs case a crowd favourite and rightly so for his performances warrented that tag, does this count for anything as a current player? come on lad wheres the loyalty????

ta ta kev.. nice one mate.. what are the scouts up to??.. seeing as he was on a one year contract it isn't like they didn't see this coming.. mind you if the project management is anything like round here they'll have only just noticed

dunno mate.. and that's the problem.. you know me though.. i won't be held at gunpoint for anything.. pull the trigger and get on with it :D
much as i love KMac (i'd even give him the 10 shirt.. lol), i don't think we should allow ourselves to be dicked around

Not sure we are in a position to do anything else but wait and be "dicked around" SP
That's the stature we have these days - beggars can't be choosers or summat like that

depends what players you are looking for .. we are the man utd of this level.. we should be able to attract any decent player available at this level

Hmmmm, I think we're a bit ahead of them - we've got more than one fat, unfit strikers..

Can't see that comaprison at all - we are unique. Bottlers, failures, cursed, skint and stagnant.

Maybe, at a push, you could argue that we are more like the Liverpool at this level - a squad of highly paid under achievers not winning anything (except they won a cup last season) - certainly not a Man Utd analogy.

If you take trophies and final league position over the last 30 years as your measure of success then we are certainly not even the biggest attraction in this division.

not on about the trophies, you are missing the point.. we get 20000 attendances which is way above anyone else.. as such our revenue and expenditure should be at the equivalent level

Ah, and there's me thinking that you meant that Utd would be the most attractive proposition for any footballer that wants to play at this level. Sorry, I guess the words, "we are the man utd of this level.. we should be able to attract any decent player available at this level." threw me off the scent.

If you are actually talking about spending power then I respectfully point out that it's you that has missed the point, SP. If we were all starting form a blank sheet and our ability to compete for players was based solely on financial clout then I might have some affinity with your point. If, however, you are saying that we get 20k crowds so we must have more to spend than enayone else - that's just not so. We are starting off with a wage bill far greater than our turnover. Even after we released players at the end of the season just finished our wage bill is higher than it needs to be to work within the FFP guidelines. Unless we offload more players and free up more budget we are actually in a less attractive place than others might be as we just cannot sign anyone.

The crux is that our expenditure is already too high before we even look at signing new players.
That's why DW will be forced to use the likes of Philliskirk, Tonne, Whitehouse etc this term
We might be linked with Fleck, Beavon, Schlupp, Wotherspoon, Kenneth, etc. but none of those will be coming in unless we shift anyone out (or those that have contract offers on the table decide to go elsewhere).

DW has stated that he is about 4-5 weeks behind after the PoF. That means about now he is beginning the process so it'll be at least a couple or three weeks before that situation clears.

Hey, Foxy! - Any chance of reactivating the tumbleweed smiley for closed season antics?

Completely agree - there won't be any new signings/new contracts until players are moved out. This bollocks about finalising a budget is just SUFC spinning a line. We have no money to spend at all, there is no budget.

Yep - that's why DW is so keen to keep the three musketeers and givfe them all the time they need to decide, 'cos if he loses any of those he knows that he has little or no chance of replacing them.

surely the three musketeers not signing would free up three contracts for other players if they are already in the budget?

I'm not so sure SP - not so sure..........Hope you're right but I get the feeling that things are tighter than the Spanish defense.

Nay money lads at all. McCabe already heavily subsidising the club month by month. They expected 1 or 2 of our good youngsters to go for decent money and ship a few more off the wage bill, but nothings happened in terms of incoming bids.

They'll be waiting to see if Quinn, Maguire and/or Lowton go before putting in another offer of contract for McDonald.

These cretins really should have learned since 2007 that selling young, good, cheaper players to pay salaries of older less good players is a dumb idea. I despair, I really do.

Massive club? Biggest crowds. Sound familiar?

Pompey and Cov don't get shitty little crowds and we should stop chuntering about how massive we are. Its all well and good being the biggest fish in the toddlers pool but it means nowt.

Also, spunking all your wages up the wall for a bloke with dodgy hamstrings. You may want to be careful what you wish for.
