can tell that goal meant a lot to him yesterday, poor bloke losing his mother just before they lift the trophy

Didn't know that.
Couldn't see what was on his vest.
Top top guy, your mum will have been a very proud momma yesterday.

Some idiot behind me was too busy complaining about him getting booked so early on

Chuffing hell, had no idea this had happened. Couldn't see his shirt from where I was so assumed it had something less serious written on it, hence the booking.

Poor lad.

To be fair from a way back you couldn't see what was written on his shirt (although by the way he took his vest thing off, it was obvious there was something written there).

I think it was his Grandmother who died, from what I heard earlier.

The best Freeman moment though was when his daughter ran off during the celebrations and he had to leg it three quarters of the pitch to get her back. Always letting his runner go...

only just found out today what his shirt said couldn't see what it said when he took it off yesterday

On the subject of Freeman. Amazing goalscoring achievement by him this season.

Got me thinking - who was, if any, our last defender to score 10+ goals in a season?

I'd have a guess at Morgs?

Just looked on twitter mate and someone suggesting it's his grandma who passed. I did think 'Mamma' sounded more grandma like myself actually.

Either way, very sad and bloody ridiculous that he got booked.

Don't think the ref has a choice about the booking, and to be fair I think Freeman could easily have been booked again a bit later for a blatant block on someone who'd have gone clear on goal but the referee let it go to avoid having to show a red.

We were commenting at the time that it could have been the quickest goal, booking and sending off ever. He should have got another booking by the letter of the law but The ref used some common sense.

RIP Momma

Ridiculous?

Really?

In a game that didn't matter and he wants to commemorate his grandma. WTF is wrong with that?

Think we might be at cross purposes here? I am not criticising his celebration, rather the decision to book him. Or have I just been whooshed?

It's an automatic booking and the ref had no choice. I presume KF knew that, but given the time shirt, wanted to make the point. A daft booking if you are chasing promotion, but with the title already in the bag I have no problem with what he did.
A great player who has made a big contribution this season. I really don't see any problem.

I've already said that my issue is with the ref not Freeman, in fact I applaud what he did.
I stand by my point that it was a ridiculous decision to book him under the circumstances. Any decent ref would have taken one look at the message on his shirt and just had a word. Surely?
