Bindon for Boros goal

Not sure I agree with blaming Bindon here tbh. That was Tanganga's man and Bindon had to watch the Boro player behind him too. He couldn't just fully commit on the eventual goal scorer.
He looked slow there, yes, but that was a pretty good pass. The main issue for me here is Godfrey's positioning. No pressure on the passer at all.

Godfrey isn’t a full back and even less so a wing back

I agree with this. I thought Tanganga played well vs Boro overall. But I must admit, for the goal he looked slow. Bindon did his best to get across to block the shot.
Not anyone's finest hour (and I agree Bindon is not ready for the first team), but I wouldn't say Bindon was the man most responsible for us conceding.

In my opinion we should primarily be looking at what made a simple pass from defence to a midfielder a real problem for us. Peck can't split himself in two, so stays midway between Nypan and Whittaker. This was a problem all game. I'm pretty sure it was something Middlesbrough had studied and made a plan for pregame, the impossible task of our holding midfielder to pick up two ACMs.

Tanganga spots the danger, takes a few steps forward, but then regrets and tries to get back:

Nypan turns and finds their LWB, who unfortunately hits the ball first time, and from then on it's a race:

In this race I think Tanganga never gets up to max speed, maybe expecting his partner to save him. Bindon is probably reluctant to drop deeper than the others as he won't risk being the one to play Conway onside, and his mediocre pace means he can't catch up with the striker.

Bindon has made a mistake in every match we’ve played. I do feel bad for him, his confidence would have taken a wobble but now we can’t afford any fragile performances, he has to be benched.

If we sign Mee - which is a smart signing- Selles needs to stop being a moron and start playing to the strengths of the players the club has. That to most looks like a switch back to a back 3 & wingbacks. Let’s see if he isn’t stubborn enough not to do that?

Godfrey-Mee-Tanganga, with Seriki and Burrows as wingbacks, we’ll create more and be sturdier defensively.

How is that on Bindon?

Godfrey not close enough. Tanganga didn't really sprint back at full pace.

It is worth noting that the pass was fantastic, and Conway's first touch absolutely takes both Tanganga and Bindon out of the game.
Here he is just about to touch it:

The touch took him way clear and let him get his shot off:

You can tell Godfrey is a centre back rather than a full back by the way he reacted to Boro getting the ball, his first move was to turn and tuck inside in rather than going out to close Targett down.
godfrey should be playing centre back thats his position if were sticking to a back 4 it has to be him and tanganga even though there both right footed both of them are capable of playing on the left and still think seriki is worth perservering with at right back

Can’t we also say that it was a very good goal. The first time ball from the left back was top quality

I don't think it was 100% Bindons fault even if he doesn't 'smell the danger' in the same way that Tanganga does but the fact the left back plays a good first time ball really opens everything up.

Can't remember the last time we played a first time pass into the forward players! We aren't all on the same page to know where the attackers are going to be which is more worrying (not good at back, not good up top 😬)

OK, good debate here and the still frames highlight the real issue. It was a great ball from Targett but we had 3 defenders there and not one of them read the danger. Whether it was Godfrey or Bindon, one of them should have been busting a gut to get goal side of the striker. As soon as Tanganga goes, one slots in and that comes with playing together and getting that sixth sense as it were.

It just could have been avoided for me. Too slow to react and then the keeper lets a soft but well placed shot go in. We have to stop conceding sloppy goals and despite the pass that started it, we should have done better.
