It's all about opinions, but in my opinion, he's far from the worst. He's also far from the best.

He is however, the one who gets laughed at for scoring (you know, that thing some people say he can't do) and the favourite one singled out to be at fault for our position.

I have to agree he gets some unfair stick but the bottom line is he is not the answer to our scoring problems. Good sub but thats it imo.

alcoowl that suits him better.
we all know porter is not great and he knows it too but he always gives his best and when we
have better strikers he will not even be on the bench but that has not happened yet so why not
support him fighting the opposition and so called supporters is not easy.
reminds me of the montgomery situation he was nt great but always gave is all and we missed
him when gone.
we have some apethetic fans who would nt be happy if we won the chmpions league.
GET OFF PORTERS BACK AND SUPPORT THE BLADES why go if all you want to do is
barrack the players.

I'm not sure if the point anymore, it seems confused. I say he's really not good enough and we need to move on, not keep trying to convince ourselves that players like him are part of a promotion drive. It seems that you agree with that indirectly, but object to the timing or stating of that point.

I suggest that players of such limited ability in such a privaledged position will have the nouce to avoid message boards.

He has escaped most of the verbal criticism similar players would be given - which is a good thing because I never get on players back where it counts. So we're left with just words on a page, remember.

Finally, though I appreciate I'm in your front room, you've built up a track record of seeing the best in just about every player we've signed, from the premier league to the third division. I can't help but think the stats say you've got a few wrong, and that this is one of them. :)

Freeman or Brayford? Who will win?

Seems very strange that the Bennett deal was part of it and they're not willing to loan him to us unless we take Freeman off their hands. If they're that desperate to get rid of Freeman, why quibble over what is probably a few quid. Surely the main focus for them is getting games for Bennett.

Bennett was to reduce the fee we pay so Derby don't have to pay as much to Forest as part of the pay-on clause.
 
From what I read, Freeman's wages demands - he wanted incremental wage increases it seems - meant that Clough wasn't prepared to accept this, thus Bennett followed Freeman back to Derby with McLaren inferring that United hadn't dealt with this well. Well he would, wouldn't he? Nothing to do with Freeman, or his agent scuppering the deal through unrealistic wage demands then? Good thing our manager has the backbone to say no and mean it.
 
I know I am in the minority, however I never rated freeman. Had some ok games at left back, but I really don't like the idea of spending any money on this guy when money needs to be spent elsewhere
 
Freeman has shot himself in the foot given this supposed "hefty" fee back to Forest. You have to assume this is the agent's work. I'm assuming he is the greedy one here. Fucking parasites.

Freeman has just resigned himself to loans until his contract runs out. Derby have been trying to get loan fees for him, which they won't get now I wouldn't think.

Indirectly that has cost us Bennett.

Still, we move on. Who's next ?
 
In a sense it is a shame about Freeman because he was capable and could well have done a job at United. Of course we could blame the player for being "greedy" as we have put it but then again we all know about the interference from the agents these days as well. It seems to have been a long term contract as in 3 years or more because The Star say it was all down to wage increments. But was this Freeman or was this the agent thinking longer contract means more money for me etc.

Either way we will never know the full truth but it does seem that as said above, someone has got greedy. If he was more about the football then he could have had it written into his contract to have annual reviews of his deal depending on the clubs achievements? It is a huge shame really. Could have been a good stepping stone in his career. It hurts us to say it but Sheffield United football Club hasd always been a good shop window for talent. If we are as expected in for a good season at the very least Freeman would have grabbed a bit of attention for himself. Maybe he knows as well that he has a bit of competition at the lane now and that his place isn't granted in the team? Ahh to many ifs and buts I will give over now hahaha.
 
I'm irritated that freeman has cost us Bennett, think his pace could have complimented what we already have... but I'm not that fussed about not getting Freeman. Never got the feeling that he really bonded with the club in the way our other loanees did last season (the beard, coady, Davies, we'll ignore paynter). From interviews etc I just didn't feel like he was that keen to return.

Also I don't think he's better than Alcock. And i'd rather have a spirited Davies performance at RB/LB as cover.
 

Seems like everyone's pointing the finger at his agent...what I don't get is the link up with Bennett?

Are they joined at the hip or something??? Was it a B.O.G.O.F???

Seems a bit odd ( if you don't take Freeman off our hands we'll not give you Bennett!?!?) considering both were supposedly really looking to get down here and play...
