I personally always feel as though whenever we play a big man up front from the start we end up smashing it long as an easy get out option for the defenders. Whereas when we’ve had strikers who get involved in the build up we seem to pass a lot tidier on the floor, resulting in maintaining more possession and creating more goals. I think he’ll be great this season as a sub for the last 20 ish minutes of a game. Whether that’s coming on as extra height when defending set pieces or going for a game giving another option.

Obviously disappointed with the penalty and the botched one on one, he could (should) have made it a comfortable afternoon for us.

However, I thought he led the line really well today and showed some excellent link up.
His involvement in the penalty award was superb.

Really hope he starts finding the net soon as it's the only bit missing at the moment (and it's the most important bit).
I do worry that we've left ourselves criminally short at the top of the pitch though. A lot of dependence on Moore staying fit.

He did look better today perhaps he's gaining match sharpness but still not quite there yet

I’m still confident he’ll be absolutely fine. Slowish start but give him a few more games and he will hopefully be up and running - is a slight concern where the goals will come from if he doesn’t actually get up to speed.

Come on Captain, who else is going to take up the mantle of 'scapegoat' with some of our pathetic fans?

Him going away with Wales is a chance for him to keep his form up, maybe find his shooting boots a bit while he's there.

That being said, he doesn't need to score a lot of goals this season (be great if he does), his main job is leading the line and getting us up the pitch which I think he did really well today.

I'd expect most of our goals to come from those 3 attacking players behind him.

We need him to bag 15-20 goals.

Was excellent today.

Penalty miss wasn’t his fault, he basically won it for us.

Needed to pass it to Hamer at the end and it would have been a proper 9 performance.

If you want us to be promoted you need a striker to get you 20 goals in this division. You won’t score 20 goals, we needed a good striker bought.

Not necessarily, if he bags between 5 and 10 (which he oftem does), we just need to spread those remaining goals out between the three behind him, all of whom should be trying to play off him.

Hamer's got 2 goals and 1 assist already this season, if he keeps playing well (especially since he's out of position) he could get 10+ goals this season, same with Rak-Sakyi if he keeps cutting in off the right like he did today.

20 goals is an absurd target to set.

Since the last Blades player scored 20 at this level five years ago, it's only happened 17 times. 2 or 3 per season, that's it.

12 of those then went for big money and Moore himself was one of the other 5.

If we get 20 goals from a £3m signing then it'll be remembered as a McGoldrick level achievement. It might happen, it might not, but setting it as the minimum expectation isn't realistic at all.

Think Billy got 21 in 18-19, Mcburnie (Swansea) and Maupay (Brentford I think) outscored him that season if I'm remembering correctly, I think Tammy Abraham (Villa) got close as well.

Last time we went up Ndiaye and Mcburnie got around 13 to 15 goals each, pretty sure the top scorer that season was Chuba Akpom with more than 20, and Middlesbrough still went out in the playoff semis.

I think Moore has started slow but even today, a poor performance still involved the creation of a few chances, some good hold up play, and opportunities at goal. His finishing needs to improve obviously. My biggest concern is that he doesn't seem to win that many headers for his size!

Obviously it's easy to compare him to Mcb, and I'd rather we had Oli, but we dont and Moore is our player. I think he'll be an important player this season

When this team is fit and firing goals will come from all angles
When. Rak sakyi hit a rocket that ricocheted off a defender with the keeper well beat I thought this lads gonna score bucket loads
Agreed, Rak-Sakyi is a defenders worst nightmare when he's on his game, unfortunate as Brooks is out for 2/3 weeks thanks to concussion protocol, but Rak-Sakyi might end up taking that shirt from him.

I thought he led the line well today and made several excellent runs that weren't picked out. The chance near the end was not as easy as it looked, as it was a narrow angle and the defender got back between him and the goal.

I think he'd be better with someone alongside him, put the effort in ,but needs a partner

Brooks is out for 12 days in total. He’ll be back for the Hull game.

I wish we could play both Brooks & JRS - two ball-carrying wingers to run at defences - would need change of shape

Quite a few players were out on their feet at 65 minutes. When we get fitter we'll be good.

When we were promoted under Neil Warnock in 05/6 our leading scorer was Neil Shipperley with
11 goals..

Though some 15 players scored.

Needing a striker with 20 goals is just internet myth.

Though nice to have.

Shipperley was class that season.

Shame he started getting his nob out to passers by really... somewhat tainted his legacy.

apart from the pen and the late miss I thought he did well. He makes some great runs into the channels.

Hamer and O'Hare just need to get closer to him for him to be effective.

He never stopped running. Showed decent ballcontrol and had a few runs on theire defence. Even lifted Peck off the field after beeing subbed. Good to see the players gelling as a unit
