I'm from chesterfield and there is hell of a lot of speculation and so called sightings and speakings to Kevin Phillips in chesterfield atm he's apparantly about to join them I still believe this is a load of rubbish and don't believe it.
But if it is true then y aren't we even being linked with this sort of talent?

Kevin Phillips is the ultimate gary boy.

I imagine the sightings of him were in the 'Donut' car park on a Fri/ Sat night, doing burn outs in his Impreza WRX with the private plate 'Kev 9'

That said, he'd be an absolutely cracking player to have around any club at this level, so if Chezzy pull this off then good luck to them.

His finishing experience would be brilliant.

I guess that depends. He's probably looking for a way into coaching, i'm sure he won't be short of offers, but also he'll want to work somewhere with a good set up.

Chesterfield, from what I understand from a speaking to people at a charity event I went to at the b2net a couple of weeks back are far from skint, they've apparently come close to paying off the ground already and have ambitions of getting into the championship.

So perhaps they'll take a punt

Mate of mine has it from a good source that Kevin Phillips is in talks about joining United.

He reckons Brighton and another Championship club were interested and that Phillips doesn't really want to move down South.

He reckons we stand a 50/50 chance.

I know we are trying to get the wage bill down and he wouldn't come cheap but at 38 he may be looking at getting into coaching.

I think he would score goals for fun in League 1 even at 38.

There were rumours a month or so ago and I believe it was Chessy who were also interested in him, the talk was that he wanted £10K a week. Bearing in mind his age and injury record over the last 18 months or so and I just don't see it as a risk worth taking personally, in our position, the money could be spent better elsewhere.

He'll be three yards quicker in the head than any League 1 defender and, if he stays (and maybe KP would help persuade him do so) would bring on Jordan Slew in leaps and bounds - giving us a bigger fee for him when he does leave.

From a football p.o.v it's a given. Get Robbie Blake to perform the same job in midfield and I'm leaving the NRS.

Agree completely that if we got Phillips and offloaded Cressy then great but if it's a choice of bringing Phillips in or spend the same money on, say, two wingers then it's a different matter.

over 10K but under 15. Certainly one of the higher earners that we need to do something about.
I don't think Phillips is still in talks, and the BT rumour at this moment in time appears to be just that
