What do you think "process commenced" means?
I interpret "SU Ltd commenced a process" to mean "Kevin gave notice to his co-owner that he (Kevin) wants to sell his shares".
Probably because his ownership of those shares costs him several million per year just to keep us afloat , he's not getting any younger and his sons aren't generous enough to continue such philanthropy.
As a result of Kevin commencing the process , the Prince becomes entitled to exercise an option to purchase Kevin's shares.
That's where we're at.
Presumably there is some time limit on the Prince completing the purchase of those shares , but no one has revealed it. Presumably we can't stay in this limbo forever. If the Prince buys , that's it , he owns SUFC , but not the fixed assets (ground , training complex , hotel) because they belong to Kevin , not SUFC.
People who want us to stay forever at the Lane are probably better protected by Kevin's ownership.
IMHO , the only way a purchaser of those assets could afford to buy them would be if he intended to develop the land into student flats or a retail park or a casino or all three.
And we would end up in a giant Mecanno set near a motorway junction.
If the Prince fails to complete the purchase within the timeframe , then I assume , at the very least , Kevin has the right to sell them to whomsoever he chooses.
It may even be that in this case , the Prince becomes obliged to SELL his shares.
So my take is that at this stage , we literally have no idea who will end up owning SUFC.
Or whether Kevin will be comfortable selling the ground to them.
Any scenario is possible.
One extreme could be some Chinese blokes could promise Kevin they want a PL club at the Lane , he sells them the club and the ground , they break their promise , dissolve the club , demolish the ground and build Chinatown on the site.
The other extreme could be the Prince gets hold of some family money , makes the same promises , finances the club into the PL , rebuilds the kop with leather seats and an ale-pump in every row and gives a free lifetime season ticket to everyone alive who has ever owned one.
So there is just no point worrying about it.
You can't affect it , unless you have a spare £5m pa to chuck away.
So just think about the next match and how much singing you're going to do.
