Young, dynamic midfielder. Scoring lots of goals for Oxford.

Worth a January smash & grab?

(There again, he signed a three year contract at the start of the season. He's probably way beyond lil old Sheff United's means... :()

Too much of a good signing.

I mentioned this kid before Alfreton but I thought someone said that he was only on loan at Oxford. If that is not the case, this lad is the one we should be going for big style.( Why am I writing this ?, too young and exciting prospect for SUFC to be considering)

Couldn't agree more. He is the perfect sort of player we should be signing. Which is exactly why we won't.

Or just the ones with an inane "he's good so we won't sign him" type response thrown in for effect?

I've said it on 2 threads. Now please don't respond if you don't like my posts. You said you couldn't see why people engaged with me, remember. Strange then that that is exactly what you spend half your time doing.

Bet you have never seen Kemar Roofe play!
Just like the vast majority of posters posting suggestion threads on here.

If you're going to take issue with me, at least be consistent and ask that same question on the other 1000 suggestion threads.

Kemar Roofe: No formal approach made for Oxford midfielder
Oxford United have received no formal approach for Kemar Roofe, according to chief executive Mark Ashton.

The 22-year-old midfielder, who has been linked with Newcastle United, has scored 11 goals this term including the winner at Dagenham on Saturday.

"Nobody has called directly on Kemar Roofe or about any of our players" Ashton told BBC Radio Oxford.

"There's lots of chatter in the background from agents, but that's what the industry is like."

Ashton admitted the profile of Michael Appleton's side, who moved to within two points of League Two leaders Plymouth on Saturday, has increased the number of scouts at home matches.

"Over the last six-to-nine months, the type of clubs attending has changed dramatically," he added.

"But, myself, chairman Darryl Eales and Michael Appleton are under no pressure to sell players.

"We want to keep this squad together and our key focus is to get us out of this division."

Just scored two goals against Swansea. Looks quick, energetic and full of goals. Sort of player we should have been going in for with the Murphy money. But we can forget it now.

His value has gone up too much for us. I agree he would have been an ideal signing.

We should be signing the best players from league 1 and below.

Far too good for us, if he moves it will be to a club much higher up the pyramid for a lot of money. Oxford are a club going places and doing it the right way, 50% of their first team squad came through their academy.

Oxford are saying they have recieved no offfers for any of their players.

Not sure if I believe that or not.

Oxford United: Chairman Darryl Eales confirms no bids for players
Oxford United chairman Darryl Eales says he has received "absolutely no offers" for any of the club's players.

League Two Oxford stunned Premier League Swansea in the FA Cup third round with a 3-2 home win on Sunday.

Kemar Roofe, rumoured to be a target for clubs in the Championship and Premier League, scored twice as Michael Appleton's side came from behind.

"We're not a selling club, all the speculation is simply that," he told BBC Radio Oxford.

Roofe, who has scored 15 goals in all competitions this season, has reportedly attracted interest from Newcastle United while fellow midfielder Callum O'Dowda has also been linked with a move away.

"That's a positive problem and it's a problem we want to have," Eales added. "I can absolutely confirm 100%, we have had no offers for anyone.

"If you're playing for Oxford United at the moment, would you really want to leave?

"We're in the fourth round of the FA Cup, we still have a chance of reaching Wembley in the JPT and we're definitely in the shake-up for promotion this season.

"As a footballer, it can't get much better than that."

Eales, who took over as club chairman in summer 2014, admits he would not block the likes of Roofe progressing to a higher division.

"Footballers have a short career," he said. "Whether it's football or business, I would never stand in the way of anyone's career development.

"You have mature conversations and that will be with Michael Appleton (the manager) and the player."

Sheffield United are in the running to make a move for Kemar Roofe, according to reports.

Oxford United chairman Darryl Eales admitted earlier this month he felt up to five clubs were interested in the star forward.

Sheffield United, who have given new boss Chris Wilder money to spend, appear to be one of them.

Oxford United are yet to receive a formal approach for any of their players this summer, but head coach Michael Appleton – speaking before news of the Sheffield United interest broke – revealed contact had been made by interested clubs and bids are expected.

He said: “We had a couple of conversations just before I went on holiday with a couple of clubs who were enquiring.

“The situation was very simple: a lot of my players are under contract for at least two seasons.

“In terms of offers, there’s no doubt about it – I would imagine there would be one or two who will make concrete offers for some of our players.

“Ultimately like always it ends up being a hell of a lot shorter than your evaluation.”
