Wes is out at the moment and there has been no indication when he will be back. He kept needing treatment at the end of last season, which I found strange.

According to Shields, Davies is out until September. No indication whether that will be start or end and whether back will be match fit

We have Assimah and Wharton are clearly not ready. Dewhurst isn't either but out on loan. Eastwood is off on loan

So, we currently have 0 senior keepers, and even if Wes is fit for game 1 there is no cover.

It makes sense, to me, to loan a keeper until January. Which will be a difficult ask given they won't be starting or even maybe second choice when the others get fit.

Man City have a lot of keepers. Maybe worth an enquiry?

Ederson, Steffen and Carson seem to be their 3 main keepers, but they've just signed Ortega and also have Muric who is a Kosovan international.

I think if we need to get an emergency keeper in we will, the fact we haven't heard any movement thus far suggests possibly that Wes should be fit for GW1? But that's me speculating

I think, even if he is, given he's not played it's a huge risk. I assume we can get an emergency loan but I assume that would be very limited

I just can't see us wasting even a 6 month loan on a keeper that might end up playing 0, 1, or 2 games - and in the same vein unlikely we can get a young keeper with potential in on loan considering we'll have to be telling their parent club "Well they might play a couple games but in a couple of weeks when we've got our 1st and 2nd choice back they won't even make the squad"

It's a tricky one. We have 9 games in August. If Wes isn't fit for those then......

I wonder whether we'd be forced to recall Eastwood before we can look at an emergency loan? I have no idea what the rules would require us to do.

I'd have Dewhurst back on yesterday's showing

I think we'll leave it as late as possible.

By keeping Wharton and Amissah around we have keepers who can get us through the friendlies.

Once it gets to the proper stuff they aren't counted as options in terms of having league experience so if Davies is out and Wes takes a knock, then we will be eligible for the emergency loan market for the next game.

That is then going to give us the pick of a number of third choice PL keepers for a short period, which will suit them as they won't want them away for too long but will probably welcome the short term experience and suit us as we'll not want to pay for longer than we need.

Looking at who this is:

Darlow (Newcastle)
Bettinelli (Chelsea)
Butland (Palace)
Adrian (Liverpool)
Randolph (West Ham)
Kasilla (Leeds)
Steer (Villa)
Steele (Brighton)
Smith (Forest)
Caballero (Southampton)

It's not the who's who, but it's not the worst go to list to pick from in an emergency.

he's probably the better option and can go straight back

Yeah, that's why I'm not worried yet, if he was expected to miss that many games you'd think we'd be making a keeper move sharpish, since we've got just 2 weeks until our first match

and so far this window we haven't been shy, or dumb

Huge punt that off the back of one friendly performance. I think he's better than the other two lads we have here, but would be better served elsewhere. Imagine if we relied on him and he had a nightmare?

Would we be expected to recall Eastwood before we were allowed to have an emergency loan?

To me he looked like a lad with a point to prove and will follow his progress threw season for sure hope he does well for the irons.

Don't know the terms of his deal. Plus he's also out with another federation.

Good question. I'd expect he could only be recalled in January now.

You've also got a handful in the free market. Alex Smithies until Jan? Seems not unreasonable. There are others Berke Ozer was the Turkey U21 keeper and played a fair few first XI games at Fenerbahce, only 22. Karius doesn't have a club. But I just don't see a foreigner coming over for such a short spell guaranteed. Would Blackman fancy it? He's familiar with the place.

Could be potentially very tricky especially with a mid season break for a number of the players where they could recuperate.

I assume if we have a recall option on Eastwood we'd have to use it.

I don't really understand what's happening with Eastwood. It's like he's blackmailing the club! New contract gets a footnote and there's not even a news story on him going on loan on the official site when there are for Neal and Dewhurst.

Davies and Wes out with Doyle injured thats 2 more needed then!

Bad enough we've already signed Anel, we've hit our mildly amusing player name quota for the window!

Its a must if Fod is not fit. We can sign an emergency keeper under the 7 day rule which can be further extended after 7 days. Rules state it applies where only fit keepers are those with less than 5 starting appearances. That includes Eastwood who only has 3 to his name.

There will surely be a free agent keeper available on a short term contract until Wes is available rather than wasting loan spots
