Kacper will be playing alongside Louis Lomas formerly of Brackley who I've seen a fair bit of, Lomas will be a League One player before too long.

Also keep an eye out for Cosmos Matwasa, current Brackley winger, can't remember last time I was that impressed by a player at that level.
Is he 'out of this world'?

You and I have similar views on Louis Lomas. Properly developed he and Kacper will form a very effective defensive pairing for Southend. As for Kacper's future progress, this thread will undoubtedly be the place to provide updates on him. It does also look as if our recruitment policy has moved from bringing in old lags (Phil Brown approach) to recruiting young developing players on a 2 year contract with the potential for a decent selling price if clubs come calling.

Yeah saw that mate, exactly how much do we think skint, none league Southend have paid ?

That depends on how much we blagged out of Ryan Reynolds' moneybags Wrexham. We sold Sam Dalby to them a few weeks ago for possibly 250k (you never know the true figure), and our ITKs reckon up to 100k went to you guys. I would be amazed if RugRat Ron shelled out that sort of dosh for a U21 player, but sell-ons to you would have been fair from your end. In other words I don't really know, but it filled up a few lines in this post and you had to read it to completion to twig I don't have a scooby.;)

Has Hecky commented on this transfer then? Would like to know what's gone off..

Thanks York Blade and the carrier bag King and all who keep us updated about the Lads coming through. Much appreciated
I like Southend. Was there when Bassett was our manager. Real friendly lot
I even got to kick the ball in the warm up

Roots, I think whatever u paid ..and I would guess its 5 figures not 6 ..u have got a good deal. He was 'on trial' last season and clearly did well or u wouldnt have paid a fee for him. The potential upside financially will be way more than the downside and in the meantime you have a proven, young centre half who goes straight into your first team.

From Southends point of view whats not to like ? From ours we've banked a bit of cash and no doubt protected ourself with a sell on clause in case he turns out to be the next Virgil van Dyke !

I now want him to be integrated into a very settled group of players as it's all about the team rather than individuals. I hope that doesn't sound ungrateful at the signing (I'm v pleased), but it's the team that will get us promoted not one individual. There's a lot of Messiah worship going on a RH at the moment.

Sirius - he is the zone 😳

Sorry southenders, but this is such a weird transfer on our part.

What is a sell on clause even worth when the national league transfer record is £500k?

If we plan on being Premier League, and let's say at best we have a 50% clause, that's a maximum return of 250k, which is about 5x players salary for the week at the top level.... a pittance.

Unless we are banking on Southend getting promoted. In that case the transfer fees increase... but we're still only looking at 3x players in L2 history that have gone for more than £1m

I think this could have been a shrewd bit of business if we have first refusal on him, that would make it more like an extended loan where he gets game time and comes back to us one day all going well... but selling one of our best prospects without protecting ourselves seems like a weird one. Would've much preferred a loan to L1

No need to apologise mate.,I get what you're saying on the £250k but it is unlikely that we will get promotion this season as the squad is too new (I hope I'm wrong). I also agree that the whole transfer is weird, but if he delivers the goods that he showed last season then that will do for me. So, any other bones you lot want to throw us? Woof.

It is possible that we have included a clause which provides us with a sell on %age on all subsequent transfers

I have watched him a fair bit and don’t believe he will be anything other than a lower league player

That in itself is an achievement not to be sniffed at for an academy player.

Having watched his cup games for us and read of his progress at Southend, he already looked well equipped for League 2. So returning to non-league is a bit surprising.

That said, it’s clear he just wants to play, and if he couldn’t agree on a path with us (guessing he’s head strong?), then I’d still commend his desire to play. That West Ham kid who spent another year in their U23s rather than join us under Wilder…. Far too much of that going on.

There will probably be a couple more very promising academy lads available for loan once they’re back fit and obviously if we want them to get men’s football before January then our only option is non league so it wouldn’t surprise me roots given we seem very comfortable doing business with you

Yes, it annoys me when someone who is on friendly terms with one of our youngsters or with their parents and then claims that the youngster will be a big player in the future also accuse the club of being "Academy blockers".
Hecky is anything but an academy blocker. He has shown time and again if you are good enough you will play. Kacper right now is nowhere near good enough to play for us in the championship.

True, but he could play Championship football with us some seasons from now, that would be ironic. We've had visits there in the past but kept getting nose bleeds.

With him not wanting to stay we have done the right thing and got rid. It may be a good move for him because he isn’t ready for championship football even as a squad player from what I have seen, which admittedly isn’t a lot.
With Heckingbottom’s history of developing youth players if he was ready he would have been in and around the squad surely.
A few seasons of lower league football will show either way whether he ever will be. He seems confident so he may have a chance.

But it appears that he thought himself not only good enough to feature in the first team squad but to also have a contract which reflected that.

I dont know why some of you think this is a "weird", "strange" transfer!??
The lad didnt want to be here, he wasnt particularly nice about the club on social media, and had apparently developed an attitude problem and refused to sign a new contract.
Get shot.
We shouldve accepted the original offer from the polish club that came in for him.
United have done as much as they could for him, now hes playing regularly in a lower league, end of.

I'm happy for you Southend fans, sounds like a dream transfer for you. The lad could develop into a championship defender with experience for sure, but right now he is simply nowhere near good enough for us and he wasn't willing to wait around to develop further.

You should get good odds on that (Southend were the sixth club he played for in 3 years).

🐶 no more bones, just congratulations on an amazing transfer! I’d be absolutely chuffed if i was southend

I don’t want to sound patronising here, so apologies if it comes across that way, but i do love a transfer coup

Obviously he’s not a massive coup for your lot as he’s young, but it’s an amazing signing for that level as i’d say at minimum he’s League Two standard (as you will know!) with pretty much only upwards potential from there 💣

Many years ago now we took a young raw reserve from Crystal Palace who went on to have a great career at club and international level that he put down entirely to his time with us. His name? Stanley Collymore. I reckon Lopata might just do the same. If he does then both our clubs will be smiling.

Stan Collymore the woman beater?

He’s made his bed, he now has to lie in it. This is a good transfer for Southend United and I hope he does well but moving up the football ladder is much harder from that level, rather than us at Championship level. I hope he has made the right decision.
