The main problem we have is lack of goals, I still don't know where they will come from, gonna be a tough run in.

I'm happy too. Brought in some good players and moved on some of those we needed to. All we need to do now is sign a striker in the loan window that can score a few goals.

If we do we'll be fine. The larger part of the rebuild can happen in the summer.

I think he will bring in a loanee and I think this evening he will be sat watching all the movement in the Championship to see if moves have freed up on of his targets before looking to bring them in next week.

Equally, he could be sat looking at the Div. One table showing we've sunk further into the shit. When does inaction become desperation?

Just because you don't share the same opinions as me doesn't mean you have to be a complete prick and come directly insulting me does it? I think you need to change your user name to "fucknut" as opposed to bulletnut!

I follow United home and away every single week and I am more than entitled to my own opinion whether you fucking like it or not and generally if I disagree with others I would have a bit of respect when pointing out why I disagree.

Makes me wonder if you even know anything about football and how often you watch United play because your sense of reality seems non existent. Another one of these expect the world from the club supporters who doesn't even pay for tickets? Or are you just one of these haven't got a clue supporters who doesn't go to away games and only turns up at the lane to sit and whinge for 90 minutes? Either way you haven't got a fucking clue, you know fuck all about football if you can't see the improvements made all round at the club but being the obnoxious person that you are you wouldn't be fucking happy unless Lenny Messi and Christiano Ronaldo signed for us.
Post of the year .

I personally want us to stay up, which we will not do without signing someone who can score goals.
We've signed Patnter who scores more than Porter at this level. Our wingers have started being wingers. We now have attacking midfield options. We look much stronger after Christmas than before.

I too want another striker. But I more want us to end the cycle of just getting anyone in out of desperation. It's that that's brought us to our current low ebb.

Whispering Bob Harris has been signed to free up a slot in terms of loanees. I fully expect us to swoop for a proven striker with the loan window opens. As it's been muted earlier in this thread, a decent striker will not make the drop to League 1, potentially League 2 next season on a permanent basis.

Good post TopBoy, the logic of this seems to have been lost on some posters. The screams for get out the chequbook have bypassed the realisation that a decent goalscorer, and his agent, will shy away from us all the while there's a possibility of relegation, and who can seriously blame them? If any of us were fortunate to have been blessed with goal scoring ability, would we come to united in their current predicament?

The summer will be a very different matter. A clean slate, a good squad, hopefully we'll have signed Brayford rather than have him on loan, and we'll have more invention in midfield. That's been half the problem I feel, the chances made for whoever plays upfront have been scarce. UTB

Ooh, saucy

Pedants corner here!

Just to say 'muted' means quiet or made quiet. As in a Mute Swan, because it doesn't quack or squawk. Its pronounced 'mewt' as in Newt or Mews or News.

'Mooted' means put forward for consideration and discussion I think a Moot was an Anglo-Saxon council or parliament but I may be wrong. Its pronounced like Moo, the sound that a cow makes, presumably when not lowing.

Now I know that people from Notts. and Derby don't make much difference between the sound of a moo (cow) and a mew (cat) nor do Cockneys, I think this is why there is recent confusion between the two words.

I'm mentioning this for information, because I believe in education and because in certain contexts, the two words have almost opposite meanings, so confusion reigns.

No offence meant. (I haven't checked my spellings so I leave myself wide open here!);)

Am i the only one who isn't disappointed with this window? I personally feel it's been one of the best we've had for a period of time. We were never ever going to sign anyone for comparatively major money in this league. I never expected us too at all. At times i feel that although we have the backing of the prince. This is going to be a slow and steady rebuild as opposed to a major overhaul. Clough strikes me as the type of manager to make calm assured decisions as opposed to rash panicked ones.

We are in good hands, in terms of both ownership and management. Lets knock grand allusions of 'major' investment and 'game changing' money on the head for the time being. We are in league 1 relegation fight, lets remember that and be realistic in our expectations in terms of transfers. Patience will prove successful in this partnership, of that i have no doubt.
Really? All the evidence says otherwise.

We look much stronger since Christmas? That's one fucking point this year.

Oh dear bigger blade alert

I've no problem using the loan window to 'top up' the squad, it's good short-term boost at times, but it shows the long-term team building that we have in place, ie none.

We didn't make any serious purchases in summer for fear of being ripped off, and now we repeat for fear of panic buying.

I meant the look of the team. Thanks for clearing up the fact that we are in the shit. I hadn't realised since they stopped printing the green un.

Shockingly naive J T W.

Beggars belief when we are supposed to have a few bob to spend.

Could be a fatal mistake.

I said a few days ago that this will go down as the window in which we had a chance to save ourselves and we brought in a couple of right backs.

The JTW was a joke. Yet we still had some saying they were happy that we would do our main business in the summer. Yep - great idea that - at least we can make sure we get the right sort of players for a League 2 scrap.

Hope cloughy knows 10 more decent players that owe him favours from past associations.

No the one we sold Beattie and co was the one where we really busted ourselves.

Imagine how well we'd be doing in the league upski with the squad we've got... :tumbleweed:

I agree. I think we have done very well, except that elusive striker. We don't need a 20 goal a season striker, as they are a hard to come by, but a 5 goal a season striker would be a great start! Anyone, surely, any champ/prem reserve player could bag 5/6 goals from now until the end of the season?? (more than Porter, Paynter or MIller will IMO)

Brandy scored 3 in one game last week. Would he do?
