JTW Priorities

It’s probably one of the issues to sort for the window and I didn’t think it was at first. I always thought having a non attacking fullback was ok so JRS could stay up, however because there is no overlap it’s causing JRS to struggle where he’s getting double teamed or triple when it came to the pigs. I really don’t want Bree but someone similar to seriki with some more experience
Kyle Walker 😂

Replacing Alfie Gilchrist should be a high priority, in my opinion.

Seems a great kid, but he's a weak link in our side.
The weak link in our side isn’t Gilchrist it's the fact we are too slow in moving the ball about.
Burnley
Leeds
Sunderland
WBA
all move the ball quicker than we do.

We are also not very good at the dark arts, Leeds with their little pull backs all the time, and Burnley today with their little nudges.

youve hit the nail on the head with that first sentence were far too slow and ponderous in possesion we have to start moving it forward quicker and cut this slow sideways backwards football were not finishing top 2 if we carry on like this down to chris this one he has to sort it out and quick

Right winger
Left winger
Right back
Defensive central midfielder

That's it for me. I don't know who but this is where I feel we're short.

We'll surely need a CB now but getting any replacement of the same calibre is near impossible

That injury has probably given us a bit too much to do in January

We need (and have needed for a long, long time) players with the fitness, power, physicality and drive to help us get out of this division and stay in the PL

And some sort of plan about how we play positive, progressive football

Pace & Power at the top of the pitch.

We just don’t have enough stretch in the channels or through the middle.

And the overall statuesque offensive players up there don’t move around enough to move the oppos defenders around not nearly enough for my liking.

We have gone all in with the play off Moore tactic. By enlarge it hasn’t been overly effective and we need another dimension to our play now.

It was unrealistic to expect the shut outs to continue and today, our weaknesses showed through.

I’ll put it down to an off day, a truly dreadful referee and more than a wee bit of rub of the green going against us.

Burnley were nothing more than OK today.

We still top.

Any centre backs available in the prem for a 6 month loan to replace Souttar?

Need not want 5:

Starting right back
Starting centre back (If Souttar is injured)
Starting Centre Mid
Starting Winger
Another Striker

If we want promotion we cannot be relying on Gilchrist, Peck, Brooks, One. They need replacing with real quality.

Let’s see what the Americans can do financially.

A striker with pace
Another winger in the Rak-Sakyi mould
CDM
CB - assuming Souttar is now fucked.

I know some people are calling for another RB, but I think that's a bit unfair on Gilchrist who has generally done well. If however Seriki is out for a long time, then we may need to look for a backup.

This is the sort of thing I'd be wanting to see to remain confident of promotion

Dunne - permanent
I. Jones - permanent
Morton - loan
Brereton - loan
McBurnie - loan (non domestic)

There has to be a lot we can do because if Souttar goes back we'll have 3 domestic loans to use. And they should be maximised

I hope we don't go and sign Barnes on loan too early. That would be a terrible decision. Firstly because a loan would be wasteful and unnecessary, secondly because a much better option will be available

I think you can have more than 5 domestic loans, you just can’t have 5 in your match day squad.

Why bring mcburnie back ?

wouldnt suprise me if chris went to 343 with gilchrist anel and robbo as a back 3 now souttar is out
This was my thought last night.

I know Wilder has been clear about wanting to move away from the previous system but sometimes needs must.

Not sure how far away Seriki is but Gilchrist Anel Robbo with Burrows and Seriki seems a decent option to me. Just how it impacts on the players further forward.

All 3 are weaknesses.

Ashley Barnes is the type of signing where we've already got some good attacking options but just want a bit more nous and experience.

With what we have at present, it seems an odd one for me.

I think we need 5 in - CB, RB, CM, LW, Striker

I know some will want more, maybe 2 x CMs but I just don’t see anyone signing 6 players in January

They'll be big shithouse defenders sat on benches in the Prem desperate for minutes. We can loan a player we wouldn't usually be able to afford, and we can almost guarantee their parent club he'll start. It's an easier position to fill than the Anel one I suppose, regardless of how brilliant he's been.

Playing JRS & Brooks inverted on their weaker foot on the RW helps to slow us down. Play them on the L and get a natural RW.

Why bring mcburnie back ?
He’d be an international loan I think. Plus he’d massively improve us at the top of the pitch against 90 % of the other teams in the Championship. So yes I’d take him on loan until the end of the season - no doubt about it.

We are going to find out very soon how deep these new owners pockets are.

I would look abroad for a centre half.
Don't forget our spending is limited by FFP P&S rules , no matter how deep their pockets ,
Unless they are so sure of promotion they want to risk breaching the EFL rules.
