He's avoiding admitting he's a coach and not a manager in that interview. They pushed him for a few minutes on plans to bring players in/positions that need strengthening/etc and he just avoided it totally.

They were quite obviously trying to get him to admit he wasn't in charge of player purchases (sometimes silence speaks volumes).

A Trotter master stoke.

Recruit someone who has never worked in England, who seems weird, whose pedigree isn't understood, who has a Len de Goey tribute moustache to unite the prima donnas and wage mercenaries of S6. A bunch of disjointed wastrels who hardly shone under the confusing dictates of the Portuguese version.

He needs the man management of a leader, like Chris and the football know how of an experienced manager, err like Chris and to understand the demands of managing the expectations of a frustrated fan base, err err like Chris...

Get em down and by Easter please.

Just listened to him, first actual pre match interview him and he was clearly a little uneasy:
a) First interview
b) interview in second language
c) his club are struggling
d) he's had a week preparation
e) he's taking over the club before a huge away derby which he probably doesn't know much about.

No wonder he was uneasy, struggled and wasn't relaxed. That will come with time.

That said, he talks in the right way, almost scripted to please the fans, the difference between him and Carlos before the last derby was that Carlos was confident in front of the local media, he was attempting to give a relaxed feel, but it back fired completely.

The German, Portuguese, British and Sheffield approaches are going to be different.

I listened to Wilder both before and after Lukuhay and he talks much more openly, its his city, he's had 18 months with the media in Sheffield and with all but a few games he's had success. Wilder's interview after Ipswich showed relief, taking a mixed side away in the cup and getting a result and professional performance.

Oops - sorry I nodded off there.....
Did he say anything interesting? I remember something about double fitness training then it’s all a blank.
I used to enjoy listening to Carlos moaning as at least he made a nice sound. This bloke sounds like Boring the Bore who got kicked out of the Boring Club for being too boring.

Sing loud tonight Blades - we should have plenty to sing about!

He's not got the charisma of Wilder or Pep Guardiola (love listening to him as like Wilder he makes the game sound simple), but again, very difficult for the bloke as he doesn't know the players.

He's talked about what he wants to do, what he's done with the U23's in the first team training this week and a little bit of box ticking for a local derby such as kick starting their season if theoretically they get a win

I'm more interested in his post match if we beat them

I think you've spelt week wrong Swiss, missed an a out

Can't listen this close to big game?

Still think we are being a bit to confident, I've seen so many I know anything can happen in a derby. I hope for the best, fear the worst, will watch through a gap in my fingures and only turn on a tv, radio or read the forum in the following few days if we win.

I only want to hear him talking about their defeat.

He really doesn’t have a clue bless him...

See you at BDTBL :fattwat:

Difficult interview for the man. Seems calm and intelligent. Good interview by Giddings as ever IMO.

As I was watching and wondering why he should be entrusted with the job and all it entails, including loads of financial backing presumably, I can only think they are hoping for him to do 'a Wagner' or a Rosler and hope he brings in quality German and Dutch players at bargain fees and cheap wages. It's a worthy 'model' but not without big risks taking players across countries and so on.

Otherwise his lack of knowledge of the Championship, English football player culture and indeed fan culture all seem major barriers for him.

Pretty much as they did with Carlos....and we were boldly predicting he would last less than 10 games......

it’s a tough ask being parachuted into one of the most intense rivalries in football one week before for anybody..
let’s hope he’s not lucky (mind the pun)
‘give me a lucky general over a competent general every time’.. Napoleon Bonaparte

I'd say that anyone who's managed to get that shower in to do double training sessions, probably has more of a clue than some would like to think!

I actually think he comes across as a decent bloke, despite having a pervert’s moustache.

I’m surprised that his English is so poor. The level in Holland is usually very high.

To be fair the German journo Rapha Honigstein who does a lot of the European footy stuff in the papers reckons he might be quite a decent appointment.
However, I can't see how anyone can get their message over in less than 5 days when he doesn't know the players. Good old Carlos has left them in a right state - they're not geared up to attack & they don't appear to have the sort of players who can roll their sleeves up, show some bottle and park the bus.

I can't see anything but a convincing win. Tache-man will have done a half-decent job if they actually look organised.

also out of a Job for so long, and the last one lasted 5 games!

His record is hardly a great endorsement either, his appointment is head scratching to say the least, unless he is a puppet for Chansiri to play real world championship manager?

The last appointment shows 60% win ratio, however with 5 games played it is not an accurate portrait of his managerial skills?
