Jordan Stewart

Please let it not be true that we are about to sign a left back unable to command a regular place at Derby. Blackwell talks constantly about quality over quantity but never delivers. He has already signed one very average left back but to sign another would be unforgivable. Surely he must recognise that our priorities lay elsewhere and unless our midfield and centre back frailties are addressed we have very little chance of staying around the top six.

Blackwell can't sign decent players as he has no managerial prestige, thats why he only looks at players who's careers have hit the shitter! Come on, the only players who will happily sign for us are from league two! We could do with 4 players before the deadline tommorrow a; cb, rb, cm, st. And i cant see us signing one!

Well, he used to play for Watford, so that makes the link more than likely.

Is Heidar Helgusson still around?

Or the premiership striker Ched Evans?
Premiership winger in Cotterill?
The premiership loanees Treacy/Bunn/Halford?
Successful championship striker Henderson?

I've finished if you'd like to proceed with the Blackie Bashing...

Bexley, I firmly agree with you but on Stewart it's a different kettle of fish. I don't see the point whatsoever, he's not young enough to get drastically better and it's not a position where we are crying out for. Although Taylor in my view hasn't set the world on fire his performances have been good enough. If Taylor was to get injured I'm sure we could sort something out. Maybe sign a young premiership player on loan or put one of the kids in the squad. It just seems we're clogging up our squad with quantity which if an offer comes in for one of them we'll be more than happy to sell them on (Bromby).

I remember Blackwell saying last pre season that he only wanted to bring in players in specalised areas who would improve one area and one area only and he doesn't want to sign 'jack of all trades'. What's happened to this outlook? Has the extra two spaces on the bench really altered out transfer policy that much?

I've said it before recently and I think you'll agree that if you take a look at the back of Saturday's programme you'll appreciate he may have to swallow his words on this occasion.

Greg 'jack of all trades' Halford wasn't such a bad investment and while I recognise Blackie could suffer some embarrassment by bringing in 'quantity' not 'quality' I'd forgive him this late on his the window as I'm getting worried about the depth of our squad. With Hendo, Morgs, and to some extent Treacy and Squinny I'm confident suspensions will be problematic and injuries are inevitable.

Shame our squad didn't take shape earlier but I think the Kyles' deal prevented this.

Hendrie for Stewart seems to be the popular one.

Be a bit sad to see Hendrie go to be honest, as I think he could have offered a lot... But without a doubt it'll help the wage bill.

I've asked my mate who's a Watford fan and works in football, will let you know the feedback.

Jordan Stewart cant defend to save his life!

And he always does these silly little 'dinks/chips' that go straight to the opposition.

The plus points are that he has pace and isn't bad when going forward with the ball - thats it though.

He has a big ego though, thinks he's Ronaldo. He hired a Ferrari at our endof season dinner awards just so he would look cool.

Spat his dummy out when Aidy Boothroyd dropped him to the reserve team.

The fact that he's currently Derby's THIRD CHOICE Left Back does kind of tell you that he's a bit poo.

Taken from a Watford fan.

Confirmed on radio sheffield. Hendrie's gone the other way

Happy with that. Stewart's a player I've always admired and adds cover at left back - more of a wingback than an out and out full back but bags of pace and a good cross on him too.

I like Hendrie, and I think he was the most skilled midfielder we had (after Speed) but there's no point keeping him if we're not going to play him.

This transfer makes a lot more sense than some of the others.

Just heard that. I think it is sad that for whatever reason, be it player attitude or managerial attitude (and injury!), hendrie has never been given time on the pitch and starts.
I believe that he could have been the driving force from midfield that howard has failed to be. Several times he came off the bench to good effect only to not be given a start the next game or not even be brought off bench. It is clear wherever he has been he has taken an attitude problem with him. Some managers seem to want to work with it. Blackwell clearly does not. Shame. And still we wait for the midfield saviour.
As for stewart, if he is in as cover in a position where we are short in the squad, fair enough. Unfortunately I don't think we have a strong first choice in that position either. Taylor went walkabout for the first goal on Saturday and he looks deficient in other areas.

Mixed reviews on Stewart, and a bit of a strange one given the 'I'm not signing bit part players anymore' but definite cover where we need it.

Bit sorry to see Hendrie go as I think he had that bit of class and nous that we're sadly lacking. Not bad business overall and will make a difference to the much discussed wage bill.

Don't think it's a bad bit of business at all. If Hendrie is not going to get a game with us better all round. I hope he does well at Derby - he's a good player.
As for Stewart - he fits into the 'never fulfilled his potential category'. He can be a very good player. Let's just hope he can do it for us on a regular basis. He is still young enough to do it.

Stewart sounds like he would be better playing left midfield.

As according to most Derby and Watford fans he is complete bobbins as a left back.

You are right they are not upset at him going "deadwood" is how he is described by some. We will have to see but it doesn't fill me with enthusiasm this signing.

A real pity this one. Central Midfield is the one area we are very weak on quality. Hendrie oozes class but has never been given a run in the side, 10 or 15 minutes here and there is not enough. Monty and Quinn are not the answer. A fit Hendrie just might have been ...

We will see about Hendrie soon enough at Derby.I am sure he can't wait to give it a good show.He must have sat in the stands watching Quinn and shaking his head.
