So much bollox.

We're third in the Championship. In order for us to get value from our youth players, we'd either have to play them or sell them.

They're not good enough to play for us, so we've sent them somewhere else. If they do well, we maybe buy them back.

If they don't impress they do whatever they want.

We've apparently covered ourselves financially, so who gives a shit? I can appreciate the fantasy where Wilder gives Jordan Hallam a chance and scores 30 goals a season for us but you're just imagining the best case scenario and slagging the club off about shit that's been created in your head.

Full of shit.

Some people do give a shit.

You don’t give a shit.

Thanks for pointing out the fucking obvious that if they are good enough we may buy them back and if they don’t we will not buy them back.

No body is slagging the club off, now that is a load of shit created in your head.

When my lad, whose an ok footballer, went to university I asked what sport he would take up there. Naively I asked about football. He laughed and said you’re joking dad you have to be an ex academy player to get a look in at a university team, and his university turned out something like nine teams.
The fact is that young Hallam and Semple are actually the exception not the rule in having a chance of a pro career albeit away from here it seems. Don’t be feeling aggrieved for them they’re still living the dream that thousands of others who were at acadamies haven’t got.

I can safely say these lads don’t feel aggrieved..... they are fulfilling most kids dream of being a pro footballer.

The point being made is ...... Have we let them go a bit early.

I should also mention that nine university teams from one uni will certainly not have 99 ex academy lads filling the teams. But I do understand your point pal.

Slight exaggeration I grant you but the point remains the same. It wasn’t the lads feeling aggrieved it’s the posters on here I was talking about

What a season Jordan had in 2016/17
20 goals in 20 starts, 2 subs for the Under 18s
12 goals in 16 starts, 6 subs for the Under 23s
32 goals across that season...
That was on the back of...
24 goals in 32 starts, 1 sub for the Under 18s in the previous year 2015/16.

Sadly still not deemed up to standard. It’s all about opinions

As you know Redhead I'm in the happy position of enjoying games as they are played, and the performance of our players. I just loved watching Jordan play at that level. I'm at peace with the reality that most/all of them will not make it into a top Championship side.

I’m firmly of the opinion that if United have a good prospect, they regard them as a financial asset that they will seek to move on to the highest bidder. Going out on loan, seems a way of putting them in the shop window as much as testing them at a higher level.

I do not think they look at a top performing young player, as someone who will strengthen the first team, other than by helping to generate funds to sign an older established player?

The days of Len Badger, Alan Woodward and Geoff Salmons etc who play in the youth team and go on to have a 300 plus game career at the club, will sadly, never be seen again. :(
