News is emerging that the Premier League are exploring a change to the PL2 and Professional Development League format.

At the moment, the Top 16 Category 1 PL2 teams go into their end of season play offs. While the remainder end.their season early.

The plan under consideration is that those "bottom" PL2 teams would go into a play off structure with the top teams in the Category 2 PDL (the level we are at).

There would still NOT be promotion between Cat 2 and Cat 1. The idea is just to freshen up the programme, with more opportunities for Cat 2 to compete with Cat 1. Sounds like a good idea to me.

As far as I am aware, we have not applied, we certainly haven't been approved, because we're front and centre in the Cat 2 fixtures.

There's no "physical' work been undertaken to progress to Cat 1 is there? And there won't/can't be until the First Team move to Dore.

Recent improvements at Shirecliffe have included - two Portaloos at the top pitches. A "horse box" coffee wagon on certain days. Some of the trees overlooking the plastic pitch have been cut back/removed, and there are even benches overlooking the pitch now.

For the coming season, Brentford have moved up to Cat 1. AFC Bournemouth will move to Cat 1 after they won an appeal against an earlier decision.

Crewe Alexandra and Watford will drop down from Cat 2 to Cat 3.

Bolton Wanderers will move back to Cat 2 after a six year absence.

Emphasising I am NOT ITK. But, I feel the developments at Dore amount to getting an existing pitch into shape. And some plastering and a lick of paint to the existing buildings. That is more like renovations than a proper revamp.

That saves money on United hiring and paying for a training base for the Women (for eg Bawtry Road).

The work at Dore to base the Women there feels a long long long way from the work needed for a state of the art/half decent EFL First Team Training Centre.

ahhh right ok well see how it holds up in winter i guess can imagine pitches will be frozen if they dont have undersoil heating
