I think Gilchrist will follow a very similar career trajectory to Jack Robinson. He'll make a good living in the game.I've had a bit of a slating at times for giving my views on Gilchrist.
I didn't watch yesterday's game, but noted several comments to the effect of "Gilchrist gave his man way too much room... We moved Hamer to the right to give Gilchrist's side more protection etc.."
Given his attacking output is negligible, at best, I haven't seen a good reason to give him any minutes where Serki (our own young talent) is available.
This signing might suggest that Wilder doesn't have full confidence at RB either.
I don't mind the idea of Gilchrist staying around, he'll get plenty of minutes covering / rotating in the backline, but we shouldn't consider him as our No.1 CB partner for Anel. He isn't physically commanding enough and lacks experience.
Not saying your wrong necessarily but surely a 'good reason' is the amount of clean sheets we've kept with him at rb?I've had a bit of a slating at times for giving my views on Gilchrist.

Awww......diddums.Might upset Chelsea if Alfie is made a reserve CB
Said much the same yesterday, if you could combine the defensive attributes of Gilchrist with the pace and attacking of Seriki it would be a fantastic player. Having said that he’d not be playing for us most likelyI think Gilchrist will follow a very similar career trajectory to Jack Robinson. He'll make a good living in the game.
Full back wise, we need a half way house between Gilchrist and Seriki. Which Kenny will presumably fill
I suspect Gilchrist will be moved inside (assuming it's too late for him to be recalled by Chelsea). I can't recall which match it was but one of his best performances for me was when he went inside to his natural position in the second half (possibly Sunderland at home to cover for Souttar's sending off).Gilchrist is a centre half long term. Playing right back because we've needed him too, because he can and because it's allows him to get used to playing men's football in an area of the pitch where he's less likely to be exposed by bruising forwards with more strength and nous.
As we've seen this last 6 weeks, we need strength in depth and then it's up to each player to get and keep the shirt.
Agreed re Anel but he must be 6'3" so wins a lot in the air. You just can't be average height and slim build and be a centre back nowadays at the top level. Strikers just rag you about. Look at the physique on our forwards like Moore, Campbell and One. I suspect he's in the weights room a lot and will fillout as he gets older but if he doesn't I think rugjt back is his position.Anel is quite a slim build and that’s not held him back.
Until he plays there regularly it’s difficult to know, but of what I’ve seen of Gilchrist defensively this season I think he’ll make a decent centre back.
Having said that, I still think we need to sign another centre back
Gilchrist is 6’ according to google, Robinson is 5’ 11”.
So don’t see an issue playing Gilchrist at centre back from a height perspective anyway
So Kenny is unlikely to be the third that we’re close on so it’ll be BBD, Cannon and maybe Hamza? Is in Hertha's starting lineup for their game kicking off in 30 minutes.

Hamza is the 3rd.So Kenny is unlikely to be the third that we’re close on so it’ll be BBD, Cannon and maybe Hamza?
This confirms that whatever information Darren Smith might have had has definitely dried up.
Hertha already 1-0 down after 4 minsIs in Hertha's starting lineup for their game kicking off in 30 minutes.
It's not only about height, physical presence plays a massive part in being a championship CB.Gilchrist is 6’ according to google, Robinson is 5’ 11”.

Must have been disallowed. Just switched it on and Hertha just scored a cracker.Hertha already 1-0 down after 4 mins
