Released by Brentford, now normally I'd say 'worth a punt?' but it's alarmingly obvious that he's well worth a punt.

Well stocked in midfield we may be, but no one with the experience and know-how of this division like Jonathan Douglas. Upgrade on Doyle?

I'd imagine he'd be off to Rangers with Warburton but with his being Irish and presumably catholic I'd imagine he'll need a long hard think about that...

Would be a class acquisition.

Not for me.

We've got ample in central midfield and so bringing in another only takes opportunities away.

More than happy with 2 from Basham, Wallace, Reed, Cuvelier and Scougall.

Baxter will arguably find himself in there too at some point.

How many nasty b******ds have we got though?

Apart from Basham, none of them would say boo to a goose.
And what happens if we need Basham at centre half again? And Wallace goes missing?

I'd rather play 5-0-5 than field a midfield of Baxter, Reed and Scougall. All the height and physicallity of 3 bonzai trees.

Call me an oddball but I would have thought our objective, as a professional football club, ought to be winning points and matches rather than giving "opportunities" to players.

I don't care how many players we've got in a particular position, there's always room for one more if he's better than what we've got. That's how teams improve and progress.

Alternatively, we can appoint Simon Cowell as manager and play in a Sunday League...

Precisely.

And a mainstay in central mid for a team who just finished 5th in the league above is a hell of a coup for anyone in league one, probably half of the championship too...

he's getting on a bit though lads, think jd is 34 .not sure what has happened at gp as he's had four seasons as an ever present and suddenly with a year on his contract he can leave.I think it's probably because he won't accept not playing week in week out

33, but for me he still is more than capable of playing in the championship. Should we sign him he'd be a coup i've no doubts about that
