Best compliment I can pay Matty Harriot would be that I never once viewed his performance with that over-keen-to-praise-anything-good-over-keen-to-overlook-anything-bad stance you normally adopt when a new young player gets a game.

Looked like he'd 50odd games under his belt. Well done.

That has always been my impression of him, he plays like a veteran with good composure and nice and neat passes.

I thought Chappell, was poor TBH I cant recall him doing anything other than give the ball away or try to do a fancy flick only for it to hit his own leg/foot. Has promise but of them all that we saw last night he's the one furthest away from being first team squad ready IMO.

Still too much aimless longball from the fullbacks for my liking, we seem so much better when we look to give our players a chance of getting the ball. But we won 4-1 so cant complain.

Is McFadzean injured, was hoping we'd get a good look at him last night.

Which is troubling because he's one of the oldest.

Agreed on it being disappointing that we didn't have Mcfadzean in the team last night.

Watched bit's of the England game, they ''are'' the best we have?? Then watched the Blades good solid performance from all on show, Miller had a good un and took his 2 goals well. Thought Hill played well and has come on leaps and bounds since rightly ripped into last season, thought all the young un's can be proud of there game. Just wish we were playing them fuckers again next week cause they'ed be shittin themselves,5-2 last season, lucky to get a point at the lane, and hammered by a team of young un's against what was a very strong team for them.Would like to know the average age of that team last night [Dazzler].the future's bright it's red & white.

United were far far better to watch England zzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Geez. There is some proper scoreline journalism going on today. The result absolutely and utterly flattered us. County were the better team first half and it needed Long to keep us in it, them not being able to defend and Jordan Stewart thinking he was still playing for SUFC (great finish from Miller mind) for us to be in front. Harry’s goal was a fluke and then another classy finish from Miller.
Miller was the shining light last night, but the rest was bobbins. Millar was the difference and SUFC fans should not get carried away that we dicked County, because had it not been for Miller then we would probably not have won. Hill and Maguire did pretty well at centre half, but the full backs were awful. We barely strung any passes together and our distribution was terrible. Way too much hoof. A few observations:
- Long: the lads doing really well. Looks confident and assured. He has really come on since Exeter last year. He is not afraid to come for crosses, handles well and is a decent shot stopper. The short should be his to lose now.
- Westlake: horror show. Now we know why McMahon has played every league game. Westlake had a shocker. He simply cannot defend. Sokko lead him a merry dance. Westlake gives his man too much space, is slow and gets turned easily. He got skinned every time.
- Chappel: not good enough. Might need more time to develop, but he was really disappointing last night. He looked like a boy playing with men. Distribution was not very good, easily pushed off the ball and had no impact. Needs to get in the gym and toughen up.
- Harriot: steady performance. Nowt that special, but I like the way he shows for the ball and looks comfortable in possession. I liked the look of him when I saw him in friendlies. However I think him and Doyle are too similar in that they both play deep. They both tend to sit in front of the back 4 and try to get the ball of the defenders. There was too much of a gap between midfield and attack last night. I’d like to see K Mac and Harriot together in centre mid. A proper footballing midfield. They might risk being over run (neither is known for getting a foot in) but on the other hand no one would get the ball of them!?
Porter: did ok. He is not as bad as people make out. He is a decent 3rd division target man. With a run in the team he would get goals. He linked well with Miller and made the 1st goal. Kitson is better mind. Porter may do a job after Christmas though.

Oh and Cofie. Send that useless twat back. We've now seen that Blackman and Miller are both better. They work harder, have better movement and are better at finishing. We do not need him anymore. Kitson, Cressy and Porter can fight it out for the target man role. Send Cofie back over the pennines.

Agree with most of that. The scoreline flattered us, the opener came very much against the run of play, and it was only a bit of luck and some horrendous defending that saw us add to the scoreline. Before all that, Long kept us in it.

Long, Maguire, Hill, Flynn, Porter and Miller all looked very good. Harriott was ok without being spectacular. Chappell looked as though he might have some ability, but was brushed off the ball far too easily too often. As for Westlake, Zoko did give him the run-around on a few occasions. On the ball he looked decent. Defensively, there's no way I'd play him ahead of McMahon.

Good to see Lecs back. There's no way Hill deserves to be dropped on recent performances though - full expect him to return to the left as Collins returns Saturday.

Just wish Long would vary his distribution a little bit. Hart this afternoon rolled everything out and England retained possession
Not quite! Trouble with England yesterday was that as soon as Hart rolled the ball out to an outfield player, that player would lose possession with the next pass!

harsh on westlake, thought he did pretty well, that Zoko is a handful at this level - certainly looked more competant than cofie/blackman normally do

I have to disagree about Chappell, he did make errors, and he did lose possession a few times, but he was trying to do the right things, and I don't mind that, he seemed to have a good understanding with Westlake too.

I just stated in the thread about wide players for Preston that I'd play him, as at the moment he's all we've got for that right wing position who's naturally that kind of player. Got to give him a chance, even if not starting, then use him as a sub. He will only get better-he showed enough for me last night to show that he can play there for us.

That said, in an ideal world, we'd get a more established winger in on loan for a bit.

Have to disagree with some of what you posted ollie'.
The scoreline flattered us, erm, no it did'nt the point being that with a full strengh forward line which to some extent's was increased after half-time County were still shit at finishing. Or should our defender's/ goalkeeper not do the job's that they get paid for,and the strikers for fucks sake imagine having the cheek to score goals. will take playing as bad as that [ as you imply ] from now till end of season if every game resulted in us being flattered, and winning 4-1, while blooding youngsters giving fringe players important game time for the more difficult , and higher division next year, did anyone think we would have won last night I certainly did'nt, ah well ollie if we lose satdi it'll make thee day.

Calling our own players twats.

Dear fucking Christ.

Really enjoyed last nights game.
Good performance and some excellent finishes.
Best feeling after a blades game for ages.
Well done Danny and the lads

Porter played well, but Miller - take a bow son. Super finishes!

That has always been my impression of him, he plays like a veteran with good composure and nice and neat passes.

Not enough height in the midfield and add Hill and Williams in and it was a miracle they didn't score from crosses last night.

Flynn has shown that a 'little' player can look OK but for me our 18-21 year olds just aint big enough to have a successful career. If you are Chappell's size you need to be lightning quick. Harriot has some attributes yes but pretty clear to me that if he plays 15-20 games we aint going up

yeah bit ott that. whether cofie is trying is debatable, personally i just think hes out of his depth. looks conference standard, maybe league one eventually but i doubt it. id send him back cos hes pointless. if he was ours id maybe persist with him and have him on the bench, but he isnt. and never will be. and right now hes not even as good as porter. so its a waste of time him being here.

Thought some of you would like this, Shaun Millers 2nd goal from last night! Not trying to tread on your toes Foxy, I know its not great quality but just love millers finish

More the merrier mate :), made a media section which I was hoping at some stage to convince people to add to regularly :)

Not had chance to see what I've got to upload yet :)

thought county were on top for the first 25 but us scoring a very good goal lifted us and we never looked like giving it away , defended well at times and Long did what hes supposed to do
yes they had chances but only after we eased off at 4-0 up
they commented on as much on sky , every time we attacked we looked like scoring

but why say we were half decent when you can moan and complain
I am beginning to think some prefer us to lose as it fits in with their negative demeanour
1 x 1-0 defeat in last 23 , half a season
god we suck with those stats

we score 4 away and we are bobbins
hope we stay bobbins in the next 17 away games
first complaining we cant finish last saturday
then when we do finish it flatters us, united can never do anything right even when they win for some

I agree everything didn't work out for Chappell, but he looked quick, tried to be direct and deserves more chances. We've had far worse wide midfield performances this season. Sometimes things click when you get the balance of player types right, although they don't all have superb games.

Showunmi is nine inches taller than Hill, but he was kept quiet and subbed at half time. I think it's a valid point that our average height shouldn't be too low, and we must be able to hold our own at defensive set pieces in particular. However there are far too many short guys doing well to dismiss individual players purely on the basis of their lack of height.

Ryan Shawcross is nice and tall though, isn't he?
:)

completely agree with you blade too long! yes County were so say on top for the first 25 minutes without really troubling us, first half possession stats - county 64% blades 36% - mean bugger all when we go into the break 2-0 up away from home. I know the result means not a lot for this saturdays trip to Preston but it was a great chance to see some of our kids play.
Chapell showed confidence to try some tricks and try to attack, with Harriott playing at a controlled manner, not saying they produced magic but with what we have squad wise wouldn't look out of place against Preston, if anything I think Harriott had a better game than Doyle.
I was glad Long was solid again, I really hope he gets to play the next couple of months, maybe even keep Howard out for a bit longer, at least the fans are backing him (like any keeper he will make a mistake, hope people don't get on his back if this happens).
It is great to see the maturity of Maguire, you would think he has played 500 games for Blades, just how relaxed and calm he is, certainly helps to get on the scoresheet too!
I have to say that one of the unsung heroes lately and not just because he is a Bristolian and me being a Bristolian has to be Matt Hill. I know he doesn't ooze finesse, he's certainly a kick-it-into-touch and regroup defender however he has tackled hard and played well lately, made some good decisions and not troubled in the air despite his lack of height. I wouldn't be surprised if he keeps Lecs out of the team even when he's back fit, however was good for him to get 15 mins last night!
Westlake and Williams for me are weak, however can do a job if we ever have another situation like we did last season away at Walsall.
Can not say much about Miller except well done, two well taken goals and hopefully we will see more of him, it was also the running off the ball that was impressive and his partnership with Porter worked. I don't think he will start in the near future however he must be the first choice of a change.
Porter did his job well, I know he has very little pace and seems to wear a pair of lead boots from time to time but he wins nearly everything in the air, fantastic assist for Millers first goal.
My only jeer, despite Danny in my opinion getting the starting lineup correct, would have been great to see Philliskirk and Ironside introduced a bit sooner after the game was won at 4-0 just to see if they could manufacture a chance.
All in all a great night, great support in the stands, just more belief and less pessimism Blades, this could be a great season for us. Yes unbeaten still, i know we've only hit 16 league goals but only 10 conceded, we are getting there with what we have.
The journey back down the M42 and M5 was certainly worth it last night and i'm ready for Saturdays trip to Preston, see you all at Deepdale, up the Blades!!!

People misuderstand my comments. I would be happy for the Blades to go away from home and get results playing like that every week. However, I feel on another night we would not have won that game. Had it not been for a bit of luck (Long making good saves, forunate goal for us, poor finishing from them, poor defending by them) and some individual brilliance from Miller then we might not have won the game. Whilst I think we were relatively comfortable (a bit like at Yeovil and Orient) we were not that good and I think the 4-1 scoreline really flattered us.

As for calling a 19 Manchester United player that probably earns more in 6 weeks than I do in a year, has shown no passion or commitment to SUFC, lacks in effort, application and interest and is limited in ability, a twat ..... well blown me down, I must be a bad person.

you can offer that argument for nearly every game played
if this hadnt happened , or that had gone in

we took our chances , I thought the old adage was to win when your not at your best shows how strong you are

wages have to be left out of the equation , its man utd paying him most of that so dont worry about it
passion for football comes from within , not at a price
Wednesday fans think all their new players are robbing them , they arent they just arent very good

I enjoy these little spells where certain players are demonised. A couple of weeks ago it was Blackman, no doubt in a couple more weeks it'll be Miller.

Now it may be a good idea for you to sit down as this may come as a shock... players dip in and out of form. Astounding I know. Especially teenage strikers who are played out of position on occasion in their first full season in a tough league.

Cofie has started a handful of games since what was an outstanding performance against Bournemouth where he ripped them a new one. He's played in a team low on confidence and a couple of times in a role he's not got the foggiest about. It comes as a massive surprise to me that he's found it tough and hasn't been motivated to run around chasing lost causes.

But never mind the circumstances, he's just another shit bastard and a waste of space. Send the fucker back,

And no Olle, you're not a bad person. You're a twat.

If I were a betting man I'd put my money on Williams 'n' Hill ;)

Lol. Touche. No need to give an infraction for that admins. Pissed myself.

Poor old Cofie. Must be really tricky for him. Leaving Ghana behind and signing for Manchester United. Who says owt about United being low on confidence? We've lost one game in the last 20-odd and are 3rd in the league and unbeaten this season. I was wrong in my last comment. The kid has actually got some talent. He is quick and has a devil of a strike. All the more unforgivable for him making fuck all effort. But you keep making excuses for him Houso. Ignore him pulling out of 50/50 challenges, his poor work rate and him looking uninterested. It's nowt to do with him thinking he is too good, not giving a damn about SUFC etc it is because he is young and playing with a team with low morale.
