Completely pointless tournament. Love the Blades but barely given this game a 2nd thought. Just wish it wasn't on TV.

Tonight was a good chance to show that some of the fringe players should be considered for the first team e.g. Miller and Westlake.

4-1 away looks like the young uns are good enough. I know it is only one game but Danny must feel better about playing them in the 1st team after that performance, good goals from Miller too. :):)

cant believe its been televised.
crap competition that shouldnt be prioritised.id play long again to get another 90 under his belt-throw chappell and miller up front and hope for the best.
i think county will take us to the cleaners.
i meant we`ll take county to the cleaners.
i love this competition.

Perfect chance to give young Ironside and Tonne a game tonight, especially when we were 4-0 up.
you mean like he gave Miller,Phillikirk,Harriott,Westlake a game, along with Ironside his debut and LJF 15 minutes after his long injury lay off ?

Very pleasant viewing. Miller's goals were fit to grace any level. Surely he starts in place of Cofie on Saturday?

Long brilliant; Harriott tidy and good in possession, Miller though rightly MOM - outstanding movement, worked really well as a pair with the excellent Porter, but those strikes were breathtaking. More, please!

Well done to everybody tonight. The performance showed we shouldn't be afraid to use the squad players when the regulars aren't in form. We're lucky to have such a talented young keeper in Long, and having England's first choice U18 goalkeeper on the bench means we can scrap the plans of bringing in another goalkeeper. If Long loses form or gets injured, then let's reconsider. The money we could be saving may be needed later in the season.

Would be happy to see Chappell and Harriott get more playing time. Let's aim to keep them warm. If not, if we decide to leave them out for the rest of the season before loaning them out to a non league club who don't neccessarily need them, we may ruin them.

Miller should now be first choice sub when Blackman needs resting or tires. Cofie will have to make do with being a sub, and if that means Man Utd will recall him, then so be it. Thought Porter again showed his strength in the air and some decent hold up play, although he tired second half.

We lost aggression a while before they scored, and they got a few chances. At that time, around the hour mark I think Wilson should have made at least two substitutions, maybe all three. Giving Tønne 20-30 minutes may have taught us more than sticking Williams there. It would have been interesting to see if Tønne and Philliskirk could have linked up like they've been said to do for the U21s and given us a refreshed outlet, rather than again trying to make the game safe.

But anyway, a very good evening for Sheffield United tonight, I was delighted.

It's difficult though, isn't it, to keep firing on all cylinders when 4-o up? My view is that's human nature and to be expected. I'm infinitely less concerned about that than our habitual retreats when one up.

Do you think our substitutions and tactics would have been more positive if we'd been 1-0 up?

I agree that it's normal to get a bit sloppy at 4-0. A bit before they pulled one back I told my mate that they were getting on top and were likely to score soon unless we made a couple of changes.

But those who took their chance tonight have showed a few others that it is possible to get into this side and do well and that can be a big positive for us.

Just wish Long would vary his distribution a little bit. Hart this afternoon rolled everything out and England retained possession

That was very pleasing to see, and a good performance so all credit to the boys. However I just feel when we're cruising at 4-0 give Ironside a run out for 25 minutes instead of 2 minutes. Give Flynn a rest for half an hour and give Tonne a bit of game time. As much as I have faith in Wilson my only issue is the timing of substitutes.

But other than that it was fantastic to see us pop four past them tonight and hopefully it will push us on to scoring a few more in the league.

Also really hope Miller is given more first team action, he look very good tonight and two great finishes.

Didn't watch it, to be honest id forgot the game completely. Really not interested in the competition at all, but nice surprise to see the score. It seems miller and porter were more impressive than cofie has been all season. Honestly if i were manager i'd try to send him back right now. We have so many players up front, whats the point in having him? If he starts doing well he's not ours anyway. If he was going to get 30 goals then i'd see the point. But having seen him so far, its pretty obvious he's no better than any of our other strikers. And probably worse than most of them. He's just blocking our own strikers from getting games.

What was Harrys second like? mate says a right goal but Mendez-Laing on twitter says he didnt mean it

even harry said it was a cross , but it was a cracker, one of those that makes that nice thumping sound hitting the post before it goes in

Really impressive at times last night, and considering the young lads in the side against a very strong County side it was outstanding.

By no means MOM, but Harriott was one of my top performers. When Doyle was suspended and we went with McCallister or Westlake at CM it almost seemed like we were playing with one less in the middle. Last night, although nothing spectacular, Harriott put in a fantastically assured performance and looked happy to receive the ball wherever he was, not worrying about the opposition around him. He kept it simple, and just did exactly what we'd want to see from someone stepping into the middle in place of KMac. For that reason, he'd be my special mention from last night.

If Long keeps up his good form, he'll be giving Howard a real run for his money. I didn't think he had that much to do in terms of getting really stuck in but there was what seemed to be a spectacular save in the second half. (and one in the first from a header). Unlucky not to get his clean sheet-his defenders let him down.

Chappell looked to have lots of ambition-has the confidence to use quick feet and try and get past people. Tidy passing when needed too. Although not ripping the shirt from our regular right sided midfielder, he definitely caused some thought-more games will help his confidence and understanding of the game.

Miller took his goals well and is a very intelligent player. Also credit to Porter for his clever assist on the first goal.

Thank you for my 500th "like". It's been a long hard road and there were times when I thought I'd never make it. I do it for you and people like you, not for personal glory. I am truly humbled. I want to thank my manager, my family, my dog, my lob wedge, my thesaurus and, above all others, Nick Montgomery.

Do I get a gold watch?

Best compliment I can pay Matty Harriot would be that I never once viewed his performance with that over-keen-to-praise-anything-good-over-keen-to-overlook-anything-bad stance you normally adopt when a new young player gets a game.

Looked like he'd 50odd games under his belt. Well done.

You clearly have similar views on the use of the English language as me. Your subtle comment about the use of the word "been" instead of "being" made me smile.

Definitely. Be interesting to see if he gets any game time in league matches should one of our first choice central midfielders be unavailable.

Watched bit's of the England game, they ''are'' the best we have?? Then watched the Blades good solid performance from all on show, Miller had a good un and took his 2 goals well. Thought Hill played well and has come on leaps and bounds since rightly ripped into last season, thought all the young un's can be proud of there game. Just wish we were playing them fuckers again next week cause they'ed be shittin themselves,5-2 last season, lucky to get a point at the lane, and hammered by a team of young un's against what was a very strong team for them.Would like to know the average age of that team last night [Dazzler].the future's bright it's red & white.

I'm going to go slightly against the grain actually and say that I didn't think Chappell and Harriot were particularly great. Don't get me wrong, they played a good role in what was a very good win, but I didn't they did anything especially noteworthy.

Flynn, Long, Miller, Porter and Harry were my standout players. Westlake looked fairly shaky but had a very good run forward. And Doyle continued to be average and reliable.

Hindsight is a great thing, but at 4-0 up, it would have been perfect to bring out a couple of the really young players such as Diego and Khan. And I agree that Ironside should have been given longer.
