Outgoing? John Fleck

Remind us who was the "best player" we sold in the summer transfer window last year? Che Adams?

I was trying to be rhetorical.

Losing our best players at inappropriate times seems to have become a sad matter of life for us Blades. Let's face it, there's nothing new, my old man still talks about when we sold Mick Jones and Alan Birchenall at the same time

Nothing to see here - just another player's agent angling for an improved contract

IF, and its a big if....Rangers came knocking with a decent offer then I can see Fleck going....exactly the same as when Billy came back to us, he could have stayed in the Championship but the lure of playing for his beloved club made it the only option.

I watched Rangers a few times last season and O'Halloran is a much better player now and one I could see Wilder liking.

Personally I can see a grain of truth in this one.

Not for £!-5 million

Mischief....attempt to unsettle the player perhaps?

Several points I can make here....1. We wouldn't entertain that kind of fee, it would need to be at least 5 times that much.
2. Why would he go back there to play in that shit league?
3. Why the fuck would United want a rangers cast off?

1. I don't think we could expect £7.5m for him as you suggest.. Dele Alli cost £5m remember.
2. Rangers lad, boyhood club on their way back. Chance of European football. Definitely get called up to Scotland squad.
3. We would want some.. Just not that one

Yes we could expect that, Whoever sold Dele Alli for £5m is an idiot. He might have been young, he might have been in Lge 1, but he hasn't become that talented on arrival at Spurs, he must have always had it. We get knocked for selling our talent cheap, well MK had their pants pulled down.

He may be a rangers lad, but this is what we know about Fleck. He's driven by football not money, so yes his club could be a draw to him. However, there's not a snowballs chance in hell they will be competing with Celtic for the next 5 years. They are still skint, the league is a joke when an average Celtic can go unbeaten and Europe?? Really?? I don't see the draw of playing a backwater runner up from Poland or similar in the qualifying games and getting beaten.
As for Scotland call ups, most their side are in the championship, exactly where he is now. He will be testing himself every week, not just when Celtic are in town like he would with Rangers.

But also, he jumped ship when they were crashing, tore up his contract to benefit him not his club. He put his career and needs before his club. He could have gone down with them and been sold to help fund their revival but he left for free and the rest is history. He will hardly be seen as a returning hero by the fans.

And why would we want ANY Rangers rejects? A shit side, In a poor league. If Rangers are happy to let a player go they can hardly be deemed a player Wilder might be interested in.

No, this is Wilders Sheffield United. Things have changed, and where we might have been concerned about rumours like this, I am very confident that that deal is a non mover.

Rumours circulating on various social media networks that we have accepted a bid for John Fleck from his ex club Rangers who will throw Michael O'Halloran in exchange.

I doubt its true, but I mainly hope its not true, too.

One Scottish guy says this.

This poster has been posting nonsense rumours for a while. Move along.

Jack Alnwick. Wes Foderingham. Danny Wilson. Lee Wallace. James Tavernier. Joe Garner.

There's 6 I'd take

mattbianco1 aye....and so would a few clubs. But I don't suppose Rangers would be happy to let them go. The point is....if Rangers are happy to let a player go then he can't be in their plans or considered good enough for their team. A team that is crap, in a crap league.
That's my point.

Meh, Fleck's not that good we could hang on to hussy and shove bash forward to plug the gap!

And that's why I'm a blades supporter and not a football manager

Fleck is in the £5m-10m bracket, selling for any less would be suicide.

I`ve got a truer rumour. We`re going to sign Nobby Nobhead from Barnstoneworth United.

I think we're established that this rumour is highly likely to be crap.

But even if there was some element of truth in it... didn't Fleck burn his bridges when he left Rangers in the first place?

By next Xmas, in today's market, I predict Fleck will be a £10-£15m rated player, minimum. The kid has everything, bar blistering pace, not that he's slow! He could play in say, Everton's midfield, and dominate, no danger, he's that good.

Rangers do not exist anymore,
They do not have any players that the Premier League would want to buy.

This means that they can appear to be keeping hold of their better players, when in truth the players cannot really better themselves by moving, "unless it was to Celtic", because they would be Championship players at best in England.

But, having said that even players like Barry McKay and James Tavernier would be gone if a Championship club in England put in a serious bid

So why Fleck would even consider going back there, fan or not is beyond me, and the reason why I do not believe the rumour

If I had a pound for every player that had allegedly been seen at the lane or shirecliffe I would have about £100.
Even if he was there, it means square root of feck all.
Good point, thought I separately saw both Moore and Coutts near a Costa on Eccy Road and still haven't seen either working there.

Paul Coutts is in the same class (I sidestep the internecine row about who's best!). On that basis rumours of an imminent relegation struggle might be misplaced?...

Geeorr is Fleck worth anywhere near £5m...even in today's inflated market...take thee red tinted specs off.

His career has been average at best and he didn't get going at United until 15 games in...evidenced by being a regular bench warmer. Granted since then he has been excellent and finished the season as our strongest performer but he's spent most of his career in League 1 and has to prove, like a lot of the squad, he is capable of stepping up.

For me going to Rangers would be a step back career wise but they are a huge in Scotland and his boyhood club. Although a fee of £1.5m is about right for me.
