Can't imagine Pickering being on 15k a week when a better player in Dolan is on under £600 a week.
Pickering was signed when his stock was high and his potential was large.

Dolan came through their academy and is still on an academy contract. Most senior players in league 2 will be on more than £600 a week.*

*If that's the wage he's actually getting, just checked and he's 22 now, so unlikely to be on a kids contract still.

Nice interview with Flecky on football heaven tonight.
Joining Chesterfield. Very GLTTL.
Seems his fitness issues go back to a metal plate he had put in his leg after his break, which caused ongoing pain when loaded/stressed. Another issue with medical provision at Utd maybe? Plate now removed/replaced and feeling more like himself...
Hope he can make a go of it for them!

What a silly comment… do you think 1) all league 1 and above clubs use a handful of well respected and world renowned Harley street surgeons who do this stuff day in, day out and know the stakes, 2) they get Gary from massage out the back of shirecliff with a spot welder?

Hmmmm, you decide.

Hmmm.
In the context of running through 18 months with 30% to 40% of our squad constantly out injured and unfit to play I think one of us may have made a silly comment...

Fair enough, but I wonder how much of this “failure of medical staff” is really just bad luck and mythology. I’m not related to any of them but I’m pretty sure decisions are made by more than one person + there are a plethora of other factors (overtraining, facilities, sheer bad luck, increasing use of moulds, etc.) which people fail to give any heed to… before trotting out easy scapegoats.

Difficult to blame the in house medical team for this a specialist surgeon must have been used to repair the break. At that point a plate was fitted that apparently was too big leaving him in constant pain while training and giving him greater problems in football collisions. He now has a smaller plate and is pain free. It helps to explain the problems he had in the end at United. An example of fans myself included just assuming age was catching up with him and not having the full picture. GLTTL. I hope he plays well for them he has
earned a decent finish to his career.

This makes no sense regarding Medical provision. Especially after the recent revelations from Anel about the Bosnia medical team and wanting to get back to the lane to be looked at proberly!

Got to be a joke here somewhere about Anel probes......

I think another factor is that we're talking about good, solid pros who were in the latter part of their careers while pushing themselves to a level they'd never been at before.

Obviously they were capable because we were able to maintain it for a while, but playing and training at the highest level when - with all respect intended - they'd had 10-15 years at levels below is bound to have some impact on the body when it isn't used to it.

If it really was the metal plate holding him back and he can get anywhere near his level with us, he will absolutely take the piss in league 2
