Likely not a club record when adjusted for inflation ;)

In fact, perhaps Beattie wasn't either!

Anyone good with a calculator?

I've seen this lad a number of times. I'd say good in the air, strong tackler, and quicker than Stearman and Jake Wright. His limitations are his composure on the ball and his ball carrying ability. I see him as a capable centre half in the centre of a back three, or as a centre back in a back four (next to Stearman). The key qualities that are required at the centre of a back three are: good ability in the air, good reading of the game, and excellent positional sense. The only centre back we have who reads the game well and is an option at the centre of the back three is Jake Wright. Wright has many other limitations compared to say Stearman and Basham - reading the game is not one of them.I think for the age of the player and the fee paid, the Blades have done very well here. Centre backs are the new strikers in terms of scarcity and inflated transfer fees.He still has development in him, and could leave for a huge sum in the future. My number one realistic target, just like Henderson.

Then you don’t understand basic business acumen.

I hope he turns out to be a worldie for us, for what it’s worth, and makes whatever fee paid look like a bargain.

Doesn't CW turn everyone in the squad into a bargain??

Can't you just be happy

I'm always happeh despite United's attempts to thwart this over the past 55 years or so. I'm just trying to introduce a reality check into the proceedings. There's always a sting in the tail where United are concerned. The debate should be whether we are better off with Egan or JOC.

Very pleased with this signing. We've spent some real money, gone to a Championship rival and taken their captain. If we'd spent £4m on JOC everyone would now be saying what a bargain he was. Egan may or may not prove to be as good or better than JOC, but for now, let's just be happy that we've actually signed someone, for money, who looks set to walk straight into the team.

CW looks happy as a wendy in excrement as well, so he must rate the guy. Just hoping we've not "spunked all our moneh" and there is still cash in reserve for a new CF and LWB.

Ive just cracked open a bottle of martini asti to celebrate

Then again it could be that Esablade has done the write up and it's actually just our record outlay for a 25 year-old defender :)

Sorry pal, I forgot to post the signed photo for your bedside...promise I’ll do it next week, xxx

Wilder was way too happy in my opinion for this to be a replacement. Mark my words our defence will have JOC and Egan in it

No it should not . We are improving the quality of our squad . It's that simple. In today's game we have to have options

It's a blades thing . No matter how much effort CW puts in to improve things some of our fan@ won't accept it as a positive
. It's doom and gloom until proven 10000 per cent to be positive

Good job Crab HR and Payroll dealt with Roygbiv ’s contract. He says he’s going to Tramlines, but I think he values his kneecaps more highly than he’s letting on...

It's fair to say we take an "old school" approach to our HR processes. I find it helps people know where they stand, when they can stand anyway...………………...
