I’ll believe this one when he’s signed up and waving the scarf. Til then, nah, too rich. :)

#bringbackmatthill (and Marcus Williams!)
The only way you could tell they were footballers was if you saw this thing in action.

He's more likely to replace Stearman. He's similarly capable of playing centrally but he's stronger and more aggressive.

It baffles me how some are so eager to see Basham displaced. He's a key player. And will be next season, again.

A lot saying Bash is going to be the one to dip out, and it may well be the case. However I'd say he was arguably our best player in the 2nd half of the season. Yes he has his faults but he's been immense at times.
ompetition for places is never a bad thing though, and if Egan is an upgrade then all the better for the team...

Agree about Bash, one of our most consistent performers. I reckon Stearman is most at risk of losing out, although Egan might be more at home in the RCB role than the central one. We'll soon see I guess.

I think him covering for injured players last season and thus being out of position might have tainted people's memories a bit, he was a bit of a nutter out wide (it was when Baldock and Freeman were both injured wasn't it?)

When he's in position he's great though, gives away of couple of dodgy free kicks every so often, the odd lapse of concentration but towards the end of last season he was megging more opposition players than Brooks was on his runs, we need a bit of directness sometimes as an antidote to getting stuck faffing around in a corner.

Surely a good sensible signing..

Where are Brentford in this league in relation to wages/budgets... always seem to have some decent players and always seem to end up at other championship sides!

Egan has being mentioned before of course and he is one who will develop too. chuffed with this bit of news. Let battle commence between the 4 players for who plays. I really like Stears and if he is the one to go on the bench he'll still get a decent amount of games fighting it out with the others. Presumably a decent fee also for Egan also.

Don't know enough about Egan, but I do know his name has been supposedly on CW's radar for a while. If he helps us stop giving away sloppy/weak goals, that will do for me.

Who’s he playing in instead of? Stearman I would imagine. Unless we are going to go to a back four in certain games and JOC goes left back and Bash into midfleld.

Egan another player who've improved a lot coming of age since his loan at the Lane in 2012 then aged 19

Good player. I was under the impression that we only had £4 million to spend. It would suprise me if we've spunked it all on a defender. Is Egan left-footed?

Why? It’s crystal clear it’s approximately £7m isn’t it? Per Fancourt J...
