Probably in the same way as Brooks has been sold for £13.5m![]()
Seen that. Seems expensive for someone not great on the ball (according to Bees fans) and not the quickest. However, transfer fees continue to escalate to daft levels, so could well be that sort of figure. The surprising thing would be us able to afford it.It’s being broadly reported as £4m.
Wouldn't be surprised if Egan is on his way in then maybe JOC is on his way out.
The 4 million will probably be inclusive of Add-ons, some of which will never be activated. Just like £15m was reported for Brooks but at least 3million of that is add-ons. The actual down payment will be closer to 3 or even less.
He didn’t even mention an actual figure though did he?
4m is almost cheap now because championship money has gone bonkers. 4m on beattie would almost be 12m now
Seems Egan's turned down Leeds in the process! The man's a favourite already!
He's more likely to replace Stearman. He's similarly capable of playing centrally but he's stronger and more aggressive.
It baffles me how some are so eager to see Basham displaced. He's a key player. And will be next season, again.
All those thinking Basham will make way are a tad deluded, Basham gets past our wingback by making runs and suiting our system down to the ground, Egan isn’t or never will be this sort of player, I hope that quashes that silly suggestion.
Oh, and it has nothing to do with Jake Wright, who is out injured by the way. Egan is a dominant centre back and if we pay the reported fee then he won’t be sitting on the bench either, he’ll be straight in.
Bash is the best overlapping CB we have, unless Wilder is changing his tactics Bash will be in the side. Maybe someone is leaving?
Regarding whether he's primarily for RCB or CB, consider this...
Who do you think is more prominent in Wilder's plans, Leonard or Wright?
If you agree that it's Leonard, then that points to Egan being more likely to play CB. Because Leonard is increasingly looking like an option for RCB. Wright is far more likely to be 3rd choice in his position than Leonard.
I know mate, I was just clearing it up for those that think otherwise. That's why I said unlikely mate. If Wilder is willing to pay that amount I'm obviously inclined to think that he's probably gonna start.
The main point I was making is that under Wilder there is no guarantee of a place simply because you cost X amount if monies. You have to actually have earned that spot.
Is Leonard athletic enough to play RWB?
Nothing to Gillingham they let his contract run down and he didn't sign a new one.
He's alright. One year left on his contract, fairly inevitable that we'd let him go as its not our style to offer a 26 year old a new contract. £4m is a good fee. Everyone's happy. Konsa from Charlton (England U20) looks a very good replacement.
Calm down Blades he's their cast off, apparently they need better according Brentford's forum.
Oh and one Brentford fans hope's there are not to many add on's because United are not going up any time soon.
If you read the Egan post from the start(it starts from when he signed in 2016) on their forum he does seem to go from Brilliant to Crap to average.
I didn’t realise he’d only got a year left? He's alright. One year left on his contract, fairly inevitable that we'd let him go as its not our style to offer a 26 year old a new contract. £4m is a good fee. Everyone's happy. Konsa from Charlton (England U20) looks a very good replacement.
Apologies, I was wrong, contract expires in 2020. We're a selling club, we generally sell players at maximum value if we can, we're doing that here. It's how we survive and has worked well so far.So you'd let someone like him go on a free because he's 26 rather than getting him on a new contract and securing a £2m+ asset? Seems pretty bonkers to me.
And are you sure he only has one year left? I highly doubt we'd pay close to £4m if he did. From what I've seen he's contracted until 2020.
When Stears came back into the team last season I thought he was outstanding. Our best out-and-out defender imo.
I was wrong, sorry.I didn’t realise he’d only got a year left?
We shouldn’t be offering anywhere near £4m if that is correct? He’s never commanded a fee in his career.
No need to apologise mate, we get daft cunts on here all the time who don’t think they’re ever wrong, never mind apologise.I was wrong, sorry.
Did you see this.
Brentford
Egan rejected the offer a new contract by Gillingham at the conclusion of the 2015–16 season and joined Championship club Brentford.[17][18] He scored his first goals for Brentford when he scored twice in a 2–0 win over Ipswich Town on 16 August 2016.[19] In December 2016 the Professional Football Compensation Committee ruled that Brentford should pay Gillingham an initial net compensation fee of £400,000, an additional £25,000 for every 20 games that he plays for Brentford, up to 80 games, as well as a 20% sell-on fee and a fee of £75,000 in the event that Brentford are promoted to the Premier League within the period of the player’s three year contract
