Speaking to them apparently to be their 4th choice CB behind Todibo, Kilman and Mavropanos.

Bit of an odd one.

Why he’s an excellent defender? I would still have him here.

Assume he meant it’s odd because, like Wes, he’ll hardly play, apart from cup matches.

It’s like he’s decided to take the money and accept early retirement with no hassle or pressure.

As you said he’s still decent so you’d expect him to join an ambitious Championship club where he can be a regular.

We don’t know how decent he still is after a year out at his age.

We also know that his distinct lack of pace was continually exposed at Premier League level, and this was before he missed nearly a whole season with injury. Championship level, maybe, West Ham's level, lol no

Plenty of defenders lack pace in the PL.

Fans have a tendency to pick out common weaknesses in all players and think they exclusively apply to ours. The vast majority of CBs that have ever played the sport don't enjoy balls in behind them or pacy strikers running beyond them.

I was initially a bit gutted that he left despite his injury problems thought he was worth keeping as it would be very challenging to bring someone better in, fair play to the club they made the right call on this one and recruited accordingly 👏

I'd sooner have Egan as our next cab off the rank to fill in at the back than JLT but I'd be wary of playing him next to Souttar against anyone with any pace whatsoever.

How JLTs ability and value to us has dissolved in many eyes

Unbelievable imo

Not really-

He came - he was deemed poor.

Last season in a team devoid of the necessary quality - he was seen as caring and passionate- but truth be known quality wise he was lacking, and he's a bomb scare- a screw up is always just around corner.

Back up= great but Souttar and Anel = Way better.

Can't see West Ham taking him on unless purely for homegrown reasons.

Championship is his level even before injury.
Liking the post as think the same too, I personally think it’s another pointless and corrupt Premier League option. “Home grown” should be through your academy from the age of 8 or something similar or just scrap it. Like Man City are getting away with having Scott Carson sat in the stands every week to offset the same rule

Not at all, we just have better options.

The flip side of that same coin for me is that considering he was a key part of a defence that conceded 104 goals, just because he put in a couple of hard tackles and seemed like he had pashun, people have an inflated view of his ability and value to us.

Told ya.

Checking him out in a behind closed doors friendly against.....Dagenham!
Not sure what they'll glean from that.
