John Ashdown's View

I agree with the bald headed cunt and I am one too. Not a footballing decision and in my opinion has disaster written all over it, and that's just the football side of it
What other decision is it for then? Maybe I'm being a bit naive but 500k (if that's the correct figure) isn't to be sniffed at so why else would they spend that amount of money??

Well people keep on changing the figure but for me my opinion is that if it wasn't Ched Evans we wouldn't be spending anything on a player who unfortunately for him is on his way down career wise

A balanced overview for those with a passing interest in this, not for Blades who know the minutiae of the whole sorry saga. Met John a few times, good guy who's passionate about the Blades. Frankly anyone saying this isn't divisive is ignoring lots of social media content over the last few hours, it always was going to be. Whether that is from a moral viewpoint, a footballing viewpoint or a mix of both, supporters have differing views on this supposed signing.

The politics of all this will probably not be known for a long time, if ever. But simply seeing this as a decision to sign a player much like any other it simply isn't in my opinion. John thinks the same and has proffered his opinion on what 'else' is involved here. Don't necessarily agree with him, I have my own opinions as to what the 'other' might be.

What I do know is that if the announcement had been the signing of George Thomas from Coventry the reaction would be one of great surprise, great amounts of Meh and little rejoicing in finding the next piece of the forward jigsaw. Similar records though...

how did Ched let us down ?

surely that was crown prosecution and the courts wrongly convicting him
Im pretty sure Ched didnt want to go to jail

minor point but valid

and heres a journalist espousing the view he is better informed on the clubs needs than Chris Wilder

again a minor point , but relevant

like those who said Clarke was a waste of space
they were right ,,,, werent they

and those who asked why have we signed Wright , hes useless

As for the scores being settled, see above mate.

As regards whether this is the shrewdest business we could be doing in the striking department right now, we'll very much have to differ on that one.

By far Chris's worst signing for me, by many, many miles. C'est la vie.

Sorry Mate,
I know I'm not the sharpest bulb in the sandwich, but I still can't work out what the 'score' is!
Help me out here please.

Or the most inspired

only time will tell

for eg

if rhodes 10m quid scores 20 goals next season
and ched 500k scores only 10

rhodes goals come in at 500k each
cheds 10 at 50 k each
if he gets 20 25 k each

now that value

You will just have to make sure you're in for kick off.

I'm always in for kick off,I think it would be a good idea you give your ticket to someone not so sensitive,I'm sure they would appreciate it,and stay to watch the game and the trophy presentation

As above - the distinct possibility that non-football related decisions were involved in the signing.

Opinions, opinions.

I'll certainly not be measuring what we do against that lot's policy of fleecing its support & recruiting mercenaries though. (Even if we might well have one of our very own in this case.)

As you say, who knows how this will turn out?

Yes, but WHAT'S THE SCORE ALFIE?!!!
I genuinely can't think what it is!
What the non-football related decisions?
Best I can come up with is McC putting 2 fingers up at the previous dissenters, but he could have done that well before now couldn't he?
Come on Mate giz a clue :)

Think "promises", "contracts", that sort of thing.

Who on earth in their right mind would think that after all that has been achieved by Wilder (fully supported by McCabe) his season the club would now at the pinnacle of success, make a "non-football" related signing? Absolute bollox of the highest order, if brain cells were chocolate some of you lot would struggle to collectively make a fuckin smartie.

TBH very little. Knee jerk reaction over jurno's will try and get some milage but there is no story unless we react and make one. Look at the shit storm that hit chezzy when they signed him convicted but with retrial, it didn't. And IF he signs only fans reacting will give the media and the pigs any ammo so everyone just calm down.
Spot on mate!

Well, at this pinnacle of success you rightly talk about, we haven't half done a job of getting sidetracked from it all of a sudden.

Without any need whatsoever to have done so.

(I say here "without any need". But we don't know that, do we?)

have a like for the step up in insults

No, I don't know. John Ashdown, with good reason, is being "suggestive" in his article. I share his concerns, that's all.
I just struggle to think what the point would be if it wasn't because KM thought he could get a player potentially worth several million for a £150k down payment and some add ons.

That to me seems the most plausible reason; KM loves a bargain.

There's plenty of these 'potential' signings for much less, who aren't 28 years old and have more time to develop that potential. So why this signing?

Just his view and its bollocks.

News of the signing has been released by the ex pig Chesterfield crew in an attempt to unsettle The Blades set up because they know the pigs reign is over next season.

The Blades have nothing to do with the timing of the release, in fact they are furious.

Why else was there no one in the RS studio last night when it was scheduled for them to be there [Donny are in tonight].

Why no comment from ANYONE at the club?

As I've said previous watch out for us seriously trying to put 11 past Chesterfield, they will be seen as nothing more than scum and low life.

100 points AND 100 goals as well as never playing Chesterfield again for 30 years will be justice.
Brilliant post. It's exactly what I was thinking!!. Let's stuff the fuckers on Sunday and hopefully they'll drop into non league and we won't see them for 50 years!!. Ched will have a shock with wilder but if there's one man who can help it's tufty!!. Up the blades
