Apparently they are not discussing new contracts until the end of the season - when we know which Division we’re in and the ownership is settled (ho ho!).

Seems most likely that they won’t agree anything now as they both want to play in the Prem next season and don’t want to put their price up if we fail to go up.

Let’s hope that it’s us that can afford to pay them what they’re worth.

Frustrating but understandable.
So, we know what we have to do then...

First two we’ll sell if we don’t go up I would imagine to fund the transfer kitty for next season.
And as bad as it sounds, I think we’d be ok. Not because we can do without them, but because I think the gaffer(s) would have something up their sleeves. Never thought we’d replace Coutts, but eventually we did.

Heard similar rumours from fans who generally make stuff up to make us look bad.

I know there's a lot of love for JOC. But I always feel there's a mistake in him and I'm surprised that doesn't put prem teams off.

JO’C is a very useful player and he’s a really important part of a very good defence, but he’s neither our best defender (Egan) nor our most effective in the way we play (Basham) in my view.

May be controversial but if we got a decent fee for him, there are plenty of other players I’d less rather see leave at the end of the season.

They only signed extensions last year didn't they ?
If we don't go up it will be a problem and the club better get tough instead of granting our players permission to join a higher placed club.

Put the ridiculous price on them that any interest from the Premier League warrants and hold out until we get it.

Both are superb players and would be missed if they were to leave. If we don't get promoted within the next couple of years I wouldn't blame them for wanting to test themselves at the highest level.

Equally though if they did leave, as long as we get reasonable fees I am sure they are replaceable.

There's a lot of 'if's in there so how about we don't worry about things that are out of our control and may not ever happen and just enjoy the ride.

What makes you think we are considering new contracts for them both ? JOC signed a 4 and half year contract in November 2017 and Fleck signed a two year contract in September 2017

Wilder has said in his interview yesterday that he doesn't think any further contracts will be discussed until the end of the season as he wants to concentrate on trying to get promoted. He did make a comment about the boardroom dispute which he obviously wants resolved

Why does it seem that they won't agree to anything now ? They can't consider it if nothing has been offered. they have over two years left on their contracts so why not wait until the summer ?

If we don't go up I expect us to sell at least one high profile player to keep within ffp regualtions buit most championship will do this anyway

I’m fairly sure similar things were said about Maguire ahead of his sale. Teams will probably take a gamble if they see enough of the qualities they like, while confident they can iron out any of the issues.

Exactly this
Plus we're currently 'losing' around £1m per month so, like it or not we will, as always, like the vast majority of clubs outwith the Premiership, have to 'sell to survive'

Can I be 1st to call uncle Kev a shitwaspcockwomblewanksplat when / if we flog JO'C &/or JF (or anyone else)

It's not the selling that's the problem, it's the price we'll get for them if the club uses the same old bullshit
"Ahhh well, they wanted to leave"
"Better than having unhappy players in the squad"

If they want to leave and we don't get a staggeringly good price...…..F@ck them
If they become unhappy and create problems in the dressing room...………...Won't happen

Weirdly enough just the other day I said to someone that if we didn't go up this season I would expect Fleck and JOC to leave.

By the same token you could say that CW/AK will leave also.

Though if all those mentioned were only interested in money they would have gone to a club that spends more in the first place.

Very controversial, especially considering how left footed centre backs, who are comfortable on the ball are like rocking horse shit.

You're joking right?

I think it was pretty obvious that unless we go up these two would be looking to move up a level.

Enda’s performances at LCB recently are a huge plus in looking to cover JOCs role next season.

Replacing a peak Fleck is going to be more difficult a task I think.

Maybe Wilder is anticipating JOC may leave which is why he brought Bryan in to try and develop him into that role

He's made one cock up all season, against Villa

It was obviously a poor error but how many times do such mistakes lead to a pinpoint cross and towering header? If that’s his biggest crime this season then he’ll have done bloody well.
