Player Suggestion Jimmy Dunne

I don't see Dunne coming this window. I know he's out of contract in the summer but I reckon we'll go for a loan centre back and stick with Gilchrist/Seriki for right back.
I think we'll try for him on a free in the summer, especially if we're still in the championship, with Wilder

We'll see. In the circumstances it would be harsh to let him go. They'd need to have a very good replacement. But it would likely mean starting from scratch, which would be risky. Whereas I trust Wilder to have us near the top of this league

Even with the players who would very likely leave in the summer if we fail? Cooper, Anel, Souza, Blaster. It’s a big rebuild again with most of your team leaving via sales or loans ending.

Arblaster's injury means he's likely to stay. That could be a bit of a silver lining. Think Cooper will stay too. The others, probably not, but they're replaceable

Very nearly scored yet again last night. Powerful header then missed an easy rebound

QPR seem to allow him to join the attacks often, at least staying up for second phases of set piece situations - and it has obviously been very effective

This is his map last night from playing RCB in a back 4. Quite rare for a CB. He clearly puts himself about to good effect and I think if we were still playing with a RCB he'd be under serious consideration. For me he's equally appealing for a back 4, maybe more so

Was interesting hearing commentators say that QPR often leave him up there for 3 or 4 phases following a corner, he's that dangerous

I looked at his aerial duel success rate - apparently 66%

For comparison.....

Souttar - 80% (we won't replace that)
Ahmedhodzic - 55%
Darling - 55%

So it's quite impressive on that basis. But another factor is how decisive he is in the air in the opposition's box - so he doesn't just have a good success rate but also gets his head on it in important places - he seems magnetic

Another noteworthy stat is that he's played every minute of every game - never a bad sign

Yeah Dunne is definitely a fantastic shout. There are actually a few decent options at the moment with differing benefits and flaws.

Personally I'd be happy with any of...

Dunne
Darling
Pollock
Cashin

Pollock impressed me a bit at Vicarage Road. He's started every game as well. Long contract though

Yeah his stats are amazing especially given he's still only young.

He'd be expensive because Watford don't need to sell and have big owners, but he's definitely one I'd hope was on a list if we get promoted

I’m all for this one. Sounds like a bloke your parents used to know, from the local pub, who was a bit of a loveable rogue.

Right, that's consensus. Can we now decide that this one is happening?

We've never been linked with this guy to my knowledge and I can't see many permanent if any permanent signings coming based on all we know so far is loans coming for BBD and Hamza. You never know but can't see QPR selling in this window for one of their key players even though he is out of contract

If he's not signing then they should sell because with or without him they'll be comfortable this season

You and I have been very wax lyrical about Dunne but as far as I know there’s no actual connection between him and SUFC other than wishful thinking.
Will you get your wish Blade56?!

QPR have really picked up of late though so I wonder if this was looked at a few weeks ago and we've gone for JJK instead?

I'd hoped that article was an O'Rourke job. But no. Hopefully some truth to it and not just some poster on here trying to trigger the poor old Rumour Mill for a laugh....
