Sad news that Jimmy Armfield has passed on, he came from a time when one club loyalty (not cash) counted, as with our own great Joe Shaw and several more. I remember him missing out on the '66 world cup final but true to the man he never displayed any bitterness.

I saw the 1968 FA cup game v Blackpool at The Lane, any older Blades know if Armfield played that day?

A true gentlemen of the game who spoke a lot of common sense , not too many of those about nowadays , sad loss indeed

True gentleman, but he would have gone to Man. United in the fifties had Blackpool not refused to sell him. Clubs had the power then. Not players agents.
