Jimenez and Mousett same goals per minute. Why aren't we playing Mousett?

Such an odd one. Looked really promising but out of shape at first. Couldn't wait for him to get fully match fit... but its never happened.

I know he’s had personal problems during the season and I know the Covid break wont have done him any good, but he looks even less fit and even less interested now than he did back in September. Yes, he scored the other day; but where are the blistering, powerful runs that he brought from the bench in the early part of the season? He should be terrorising tired defenders in the last 20 minutes of games, when actually, he looks more knackered than them.

He always looks knackered to me, when he came on against Spurs I genuinely thought he would have to come of again, even when he scored he didn’t seem to go mad
He needs a bloody good pre season in him under wilder for us to see the best from him

As Wilder says there is a good reason why Moose isn't playing more. If you watch him during the game he gets very mardy and sulks if a ball doesn't go where he wants it to. Head goes down instead of chasing back after the ball, not sure this is a problem Wilder can fix.

Looks like the penny might have dropped again the last couple of games, he's looked good again. Lets see how long it lasts!

I hate that hackneyed phrase. It's a trite cliché that holds no weight at all. While it might be occasionally true for players coming back from a long term injury, Moose is a professional footballer, he trains every day. Two or three portions of friendly games played at lolloping pace does not a world beater make.

The moose could be a lane legend but doesn't seem to have the hunger and desire to make it at the elite level
God knows he has the talent and the natural attributes but seems more bothered about driving flash cars and eating MacDonald's

He seems to have a lack of heart and wilder doesn't like that in a player, in fact its a pre requisite

I was surprised by Wilder was that blunt about him but maybe it's time to give him a kick up the arse. The lad's had a really tough time this season and I think we as fans ought to back him. Leave it up to the manager and coaching team to tell him the hard truths. I've been saying for a while though, in terms of raw ability and physicality he's the most talented and most complete striker at the club. Better goals per minute the Maupay and some others people would love to see at the club and has notched up a fair few assists to go with it.

I really hope we can get the best out of him.

Wilder waited for him to score before making that point. No coincidence.

I think he'll be telling him that this time next season he could either be in the France squad or looking at a career outside of the Premier League.

Rubbish, a good pre-season solves every footballers issues and makes them world beaters. It's a well known fact in these parts. 😉

Jimenez has much more technical ability than Moose , particularly in respect of his first touch and close control which have let the latter down on numerous occasions this year .

He hardly started for Bournemouth so Eddie obviously knew he had issues. Maybe Chris thought he could shake him up into becoming a real force and for a while he was firing but it seems as if he has lost his mojo. Consistency is the key with hard graft and it seems this is where he lacks hence Wilders comments after the Spurs game. Some players can't hack it no matter what a manager and backroom staff try and it's a real shame that he could let it all slip away . Hope i'm wrong and he starts to give his all. There's a super player in there.

To be fair to him, this article was written in Jan, and at that time he was on the back of a rough patch (see attached)

i think most people would have a wobble at work if they went through something similar, just because hes a footballer doesnt mean he isnt human

however he now seems to be getting there - I hope the Mousse we saw early on , 5 goals and 3 assists in his first 11 games is the one we are seeing now, blighted in the middle by an unfortunate but understandable period of difficulty on the pitch as a result of circumstance off it

Indeed and that's why I was so angry with people on here for rubbishing Dean Hammond without giving him the chance to have a good 4 or 5 full pre-seasons with us...

True, if he was a world beater he wouldn’t be here would he, but it maybe cliche and you might be right in your assumption that a pre season means nothing, seems to beg the question why bother with it at all, I was always led to believe it raises levels of fitness, endurance and reduces muscle injuries, which weirdly our team suffer very few of

United's pre season's have seen players develop far beyond previous levels. When I met Wilder shortly after he got the job, he wanted to know what I thought of the team in general. I emphasised how unfit the team was, and how they could only play a pressing style for 45 minutes or saunter through the games for ninety minutes. I stressed that we hadn't had a fit United side since Warnock and Tony Daley, and that teams with young, fit players ran all over us. He told me fitness was always the most important consideration in their entire setup. That players would be "beasted" in pre season and we would be the fittest team in the league. A few months later, we saw damascene conversions in the likes of Freeman, Coutts, etc. Those that didn't buy in were jettisoned no later than the end of the season. For this reason, it's difficult to judge Wilder signings that haven't been at the club having completed the full beasting program or two. The likes of Berge and Mcburnie have recently talked about the culture shock they've experienced when coming to United.Coaching and fitness work have been absolutely crucial to United's rise.
As for Moose, this is his first season as a semi regular starter. The physical demands are new to him.We brought him in around the back end of July so the staff haven't had the chance to really work on him yet. He'll either shape up or move out. The talent isn't in doubt.

We can chat about attitude and hunger as much as we want he is currently our top scorer and up there with our top assisters. Our attack is barely mid table numbers wise and id think twice about getting rid of him.

Because Mousset blows after twenty minutes.

He’s making himself be a sub with his fitness levels.

I don't necessarily disagree with you, but no matter how hard you train it is only playing in matches that gives you the stamina to play 90 minutes. Maybe for whatever reason he is unable to do that, & it is not in dispute that he had problems pre lock down, but I would like to see him get more minutes on the pitch, "blowing out of his arse" or not. He is not a McBurnie who runs himself into the ground, he is an explosive player who works in short powerful bursts, & that is harder to do when you are just coming on for 20 mins at the end of a game, so you don't get the "second wind" effect.

His work rate is also ridiculous! Runs all game.

Best post on here in a good while. More people need to recognize this as we are probably the only team about whose head coach is also the head of sports science. We're not just gonna sign someone who spends all day "eating McDonalds".
