Not turning up my nose at him signing but looking at it logically is it a good use of our limited funds ?
Chances of staying up minimal
Would he stay with us next season ?
Would we benefit In the long term?
I just tweaked summat.OK so maybe stubborn wasn't the best word but I'm quite sure most on here have heard of Einstein's definition of insanity and week after week we're seeing 90 minutes of it. The only way CW is trying to differ from that is the constant changing of the team, which in itself shows our issues this season.
IMHO all the below have contributed to our decline this season:
Now look at that list. How many can CW directly influence?
- No crowds.
- Injury issues.
- Loss of momentum during the 1st lockdown.
- Other teams working out how to nullify us.
- Players reverting to their natural level.
- Loss of team spirit due to being unable to socialise outside of training/matches.
The only one is other teams working out how to nullify us and the only way to do this IMO is a change in formation as to mix things up a bit.
This doesn't have to be the formation I suggested above but just something different to keep opposition managers guessing although I'm not sure I agree with your view that switching to a back 4 would be such a bad thing. We quite regularly switch to this during games and don't get any more over run. Don't know where this info would be obtained but I'd be quite confident we have conceded more with a back 3 than a back 4. It doesn't have to be Bash and Egan, could quite easily be Egan and Ampadu.
I'm not sure what the answer is but we surely can't just continue like this until the end of the season.
It's not so much turning my nose up, it's more that we'd have to change our system to accommodate him and I'm not sure that we'd do that. And still we have fans turning their nose up at the prospect of signing a player who would be far better than anybody we have.

I'm all up for him joining in theory, but if if we're gonna go down anyway then there's an argument that says why not spen his £120,000 a week wages on someone who's gonna be here next season. The flip sside is obvously that we need as many points as we can get for confidence and momentum. I can see both sides.Crackers isn't it mate. Were absolutely dire in midfield. i agree with you about it being a boost but it would be a very expensive boost seing as were going down whether he comes in or not and it seems obvious the board see it that way as wellI feel like anyone is complaining about this needs to really see the bigger picture here.
Yeah we are probably relegated, but if we don't sign anyone to boost the squad we could really have no confidence or form going into next season - with our midfield we are looking at one of the worst ever finishes in the PL. With Lingard we have a CAM which we don't have on our squad. He can provide goals and an attacking threat, which we desperately need, he could link up with the front 2 as well which could mean they score more goals (again giving the squad confidence going into next season).
I understand Wilders logic on this, and with people suggesting players like Mowatt - no thank you, we've made mid to low Championship players in the past year and look where that has got us.
We need a boost for the second half of the season which could be invaluable for next season, regardless of staying up.

I agree with some comments on here, it sounds like some people want us to break that record! It's worth spending a few million if it means we don't take Derby's record.
if thats the case now when were desperate why wasnt this policy pursued before the season started ? and pay the going rate for premier league quality players every chance we would have stayed in the premier league after the horse has bolted springs to mind here its too late now to be spending owt save it for the summer when we will need at least 4 new players to come inExpensive? If he is indeed on £120K a week and we have to pay the lot, it's £1.8m.
Name me a player of that calibre that we can get for less than £2m.
We're in the Premier League FFS, if we can't afford to lob £2m at a player, we truly are fucked.
If we're going down (which we are), we may as well go down and break the record. Spending money on Lingard is daft - Aguero wouldn't save us, nevermind a hot and cold (at best) midfielder. If we are going to spend money, spend it on someone who will stay with us in the Championship. Better still, bring back Freeman for no outlay.I agree with some comments on here, it sounds like some people want us to break that record!
Yep thats Solskjaer forcing him out. Just a question of where he goes on loan now.According to twitter Lingard has been cut from their PL squad to accommodate Amad Diallo

Glad wilder doesn't think like you. I guarantee he hasn't given up with 19 games left2million a isn’t pocket change though. Our owner is not particularly rich in football terms - our revenue is going to shrike by about 60-70% next year.... o. Fact 2 million is likely to be 5% of our total revenue isn’t it! Even if we just cover his wages without a loan fee.
Put in simple terms - that’s one player on week on £40k or 2 players on £20k a week for the season!!! That would get you a good quality championship player.
Do we not think that’s a better use? Even if it was signing messi on loan it’s unlikely to change where we finish and zero % chance it keeps us up.
as others have stated it solves one problem. Does fuck all for the chasm at left centre back or the underperforming keeper!
Yep thats Solskjaer forcing him out. Just a question of where he goes on loan now.
Glad wilder doesn't think like you. I guarantee he hasn't given up with 19 games left
I don’t think we’d be attractive to players in the championship right now. If they’re on our radar then they’ll be interest in the summer and not just from us. Little advantage to moving away from where they’re doing well at the moment and limit their options rather than wait it out and make a decision based on all known facts in the summer. Unless I playing in League one I wouldn’t seriously consider a move from the Championship in January to a team highly likely to be relegated. If we're going down (which we are), we may as well go down and break the record. he might not have given up but deep down he knows like nearly all blades fans that were going down if we had another 5 or 6 points on the board it might be worth spending more money but not now save it while the summer and see whos available thenGlad wilder doesn't think like you. I guarantee he hasn't given up with 19 games left
Schematics maybe, but why does he have to drop out of the squad for Diallo?Yep thats Solskjaer forcing him out. Just a question of where he goes on loan now.
