I think many of us like the idea of having a quick, direct, tricky winger in the squad but JCR is out of contract in the summer and is too old to warrant a new one. I'd like to see us look for a young player of a similar type.

The last 2 games we've come up against Gboly Ariyibi and Sulley Kaikai who both seem to fit the mould. Any more suggestions?

why don't we get one of those T-Shirt Bazooka's that we had when we were in the premier league. we could adapt it for firing footballs, stick it down on the touchline by the Kop and South Stand and set it to fire a football into row z on the kop every 10 minutes. We could pain JCR's name and Number on it as well, but i think people would know what it was even without.

As questionable as his end product is, I (and I think most others) like to see a player run at defenders like he does. That piece of skill against Notts County was incredible.

If we could get a young version, perhaps we could coach some end product into them?

Coutts is a better winger, thats saying something. For the 6 games a season that JCR performed, no thanks.

In all seriousness though, I'm not actually sure an out and out winger like JCR fits into what we're trying to achieve. what we need is someone that works hard and is able to deliver a good final ball. A Brayford, murphy or even flynn would do this.

Yeah i'd go with a young attacking midfielder rather than a lazy winger.

I think Coutts and JCR are very different types of wingers with different strengths and weaknesses. Coutts is certainly the more cultured footballer but JCR is quick and direct and at times scares the shit out of full backs.

Like I say, I’m not for a moment advocating keeping him beyond this season but suggesting having a young player with those traits in the squad would be advantageous even if it’s just as an impact sub. Pace and trickery is not something we have in abundance in our squad. If you find players that have that, good coaching and dedication can take them to a higher level.

Like I say, I like the glimpses I’ve seen of Ariyibi and Kaikai. They seem like the type of player I’m referring to.

Byrne would be worth investing in, especially if we want to continue with 3-5-2.

With him on the right you could afford to go without too much of an attacking threat on the left, we could continue with Done there for example.

If we could sign him, Baptiste and Burn/Aaron Pierre and I'd be happy enough for us to only make a couple more lower cost signings and otherwise go with what we've already got in the other positions.
