Ah now it depends on the OP's wording....

"Jay O'Shea To Sign" Fair enough - Rumour Mill.

"Bid Made For Jay O'Shea" Not a rumour. It could even receive the hallowed CONFIRMED tag.... :)

No, it seems pretty straightforward. Bid isn't a signing so still a rumour. Anything connected with potential signings is all treated as rumour until confirmation is seen from an official source. I think I have it right, but Linz will put me right if I'm not correct.

Yes. I didn't say you don't. My post was to politely request that you don't waste a pregnant lady's time posting in the wrong forum and to add a bit of further information.

And politely requested it was . My expertise in these matters of hi tech are fairly limited as I spend much of my time on other things and use this site and the internet infrequently. My sincere apology,s for any upset I have caused Mlady. I doff my cap. Good day to you. I take my leave. My carriage awaits..........However UTB Roll on tomorrow.

I posted that before I knew it was a loan. But as I said, we'll still be paying a fee so the bit about resale value still applies to an extent at least.

As would be the case with any loanee even from a higher division?

Immediate aim will be promotion, that'll help balance the books - well anywhere else - than worrying about a couple of hundred grand somewhere down the line. The point is, is he a decent signing ?

Maybe because he's handed in a transfer request?? don't know how it all works?

I wasn't having a go at you, I was just pointing you in the right direction before some thundercunt did have a go at you.

It it only me who thinks that this is probably the best January window ever??

No Gray it's not mate. I didn't expect big name big money signings. What we have done is brought in players who can do the job at this level within budget, and not lost anyone key.

I know, but Chesterfield aren't in the best place, and dropping their highest wage for the rest of the season for a player that doesn't want to play for them, may mean a loan deal was the best option???

I know that's how it works - only pointing out that it's more than a rumour... No need to involve the gaffers! :)

I didn't think for one minute you were. My reply was perhaps a bit flippent. Just me trying to hide my ignorance of the internet.
I shall try and put my replies in the right forum in future. I only ever look in the General Blades Chat..........Doh.. Nice to speak to you.

Well it's not really a rumour seeing as it's stated on Chesterfield's official website......Chris turner says he's in talks after telling Caldwell he wanted to leave them on friday, after he heard of our approach.
And in which section is the main thread on the player? Have a guess

I see it as, Jay O'Shea has seen what EEL has done and wants to put himself in the spotlight to secure a contract with us or somebody else at the end of the season. He had the options to play regularly with Chesterfield or come and fight for a place with us. Looking to choose the latter shows confidence in his own ability and determination. CW's type of player. :)

Not a bad signing, especially considering it's a loan. The onus on him is to impress us and CW.

For the record it hasn't been a bad transfer window, got off to a really good start with Carruthers but since then a bit underwhelming to be honest. Just glad not to lose anyone important... so far.

As Danny says nothing to lose with a loan signing and his goal scoring record is good. We are poking very strong in midfield with the what is already the best 3 in the division strengthened further by Carruthers and O'Shea.

Anyone else got that slightly nauseous feeling that someone like Fleck is going to the Championship on the last day of the window ????

Looking very strong...not poking

I have no problem with players going provided we get a good fee and the money is re-invested in to the squad.

It doesnt tho? there is no resale value. If he plays 20 minutes for the rest of the season and helps us in some way to go up, even making the players he could replace play better to keep their place then it would be chump change. He might come, set the world alight and be paul coutts mk2 in which case we could get him for free in the summer as hes out of contract - not that any of this matters of course, your dig was well in before the details of the deal were even announced.

Sack the board etc

You said it - there is no resale value. And we'll still be paying a fee. So it does apply.

Thank you for pointing out the rest of that, I honestly hadn't thought about any of it....

I know promotion's the main thing. I know it's worthwhile if he helps get us up. I know we could get him on a free (we probably won't if we go up). But I was posting about resale value (or in football terms, potential), which is also a factor. Wilder's talked about signing players with resale value. Only managing 1 in 4 who are likely to increase in value is disappointing given our position.

Anything represents a 'dig' to you. Pouncing on them is the only contribution you make to this place.

We should not be signing squad fillers,we've done that constantly and it gets you nowhere
Any players signed should be better than what we already have. I don't think O'Shea is any better
Especially if we want to play in the Championship next season

Or is that too negative ???? having not seeing him play every week and only having the true statistics to hand

The criteria we use to [CONFIRM] rumours is when either the parent club or Sheffield United say that a deal has been done on either the official sites or Twitter.

So far, Chesterfield have admitted that we are in talks. Deal not done = Rumour Mill.

That or occasionally that we know the paperwork is far enough down the line for it to not fall through :)
