He's a very good footballer. You can never have too many of those

The lad posting that has got the information from Lee Gregory, the Millwall player.

Maxter is claiming ITKer on this....if it comes off....suppose law of averages says he had to get one right eventually!

Will only be worthwhile if Carruthers' injury is bad.

I'd much rather see a convincing wide player come in.
Carruthers (injury permitting) to compete with Coutts and Fleck, O'Shea to compete with Duffy?

Riley to cover all wide options?

New striker and a couple to leave. Job done.

We had to many tricky players on the pitch today. We need someone prepared to run directly at defences to mix it up a bit. Good as we've been this season we are a bit predictable.

If by predictability you mean scoring four or more goals per game, Yep I'll go with that. We are making the ball do the work by accurately passing it on the ground, A well struck pass is faster than a runner and we appear to have got the hang of it.

A well struck pass doesn't drag defenders out of position like running at them and beating one does. It's still the best way to open a defence.

Duffy isn't getting any younger, I would prefer someone around 23/24 to compete with him.

Jay O'Shea didn't cut it for Brum in the championship and it's a tougher league now.

He never played in Championship for Birmingham, never got chance.
Fair enough, just checked. Maybe I imagined him playing for them.

Got to admit though at 28 it's hardly the most inspiring signing. Knocked about in leagues one and two for the past 7 years.

The complete opposite to Carruthers on the 'exciting' scale.

He played a few games at Middlesbrough in the championship though.

Like I've said on other threads, as long as its Wilder doing the buying, selling or loaning I don't care.

We as fans have a worse record than the managers for rating potential/new signings.

The number 10's Samir's preferred position isn't it? I think he'll be the one to push Duffy.

If Wilder sees something in him then I'm all for it.

With the way Wilder has set us up, he wants good footballers in the middle. Players who are technically talented tend to be highly inconsistent in the wrong teams/setups.

Coutts, Fleck and Duffy thrive because of each other, they know there's no weak links in there, they know that passes are going to stick, they know they'll get found by each other.

Put any of them into an average team and they'll be inconsistent (Coutts last season). I know Coventry fans said the same about Fleck. MK Dons say the same about Carruthers, yet I can see him slotting into midfield seamlessly.

I'd expect Jay O'Shea being the same.

I can't see why we we'd sign him and Carruthers. If we did, we'd have 4 number tens, Duffy, Carruthers, Scougal and him.

Chessie fans I know aren't that bothered about him and say he's a 60 minute player and goes missing in large parts of games.

Jake Wright was so uninspiring but I could play him every game and be confident of him doing a fantastic job. I trust Wilder.

Give over the fans know best.

Its a good job we didn't sign Jake Wright, and got rid of them wasters Coutts and Freeman...oh wait.
What's your take on O shea? Personally I haven't really seen him play much but if the gaffa (the one who's guided us to the top of the league wants him then that's that. I'm sold.

I work with a Chesterfield fan and he rates him, would be gutted to see him go. But thats all I've got to go on.

To sound like a broken record, because Ive posted it elsewhere, as long as its Wilder doing the buying/selling/loaning I'm happy.

If this forum is anything to go by (myself included) then we are absolutely horrendous at judging potential signings, players we should get rid of etc.

We don't know half of what Wilder does within the beautiful game or we'd be managers ourselves. We all have 1 thing though. A passion for the blades.

same here chris knows what hes doing and were gonna pick up more injuries before end of season he wont be that expensive and i think he will be used as a replacement for harry chapman probably out wide

Jake Wright was a squad builder, plus we already have enough players of 'age' who have no sell on fees who won't improve in the future. Don't think we need another.

But it's all on Chris. He knows more than me.

To all those who say nay
about siging Jay O Shea
let me just say
how many times have you seen him play?
Sure he plays the Chessie way
but under Wilder he just may
give us the cover so that come final day
in May
we look back and say
Wilder was right to sign Jay O Shea
as it turns out, he can play the United way
Who knows, maybe he’ll be better than Che
I don’t know, I’m not au fait
with the way
he plays
but let me just say
Chessie might rue the day
that they let Jay O Shea
slip away
regardless of whether or not he’s gay.

On a serious note though, I’m not bothered about signing him. Could give us some OK cover but can’t see him doing much more than that. Maybe if Scougall was to be moved on he could take his place on the bench. As long as we don’t pay over the odds I’m not against signing him as a squad player but it’s not one that excites me or that I would expect big things from.

If we go up I'd expect us to be moving him on in the summer. Plenty in L1 would take him. Hopefully the fee will be under 100k.
