Happy to stick with the same team for the rest of the season then?
 
LCB,RCM. Would seem essential. Only out would be Lunny. Can't see any point, signing or selling elsewhere. Argument for DCM, but in theory we have 4 players for thought and have to back one of them to function. At a real push an outside left, if Wilder decides to commit to a formation change.

Can’t see the argument for a DM at all. We’ve a squad full. Berge, Norwood, Osborn, ampadu , Rodwell, Basham at a push.

If we are still winless I’d not spend anything. But obviously a competent LCB is required, just to try and get some respectability into the season. For me a creative midfielder is a must - just to spark something in the side - we may as well go down swinging not getting beaten to nil every match.

Not if the other midfielders aren't helping them no they have to be able to pass to team mates to retain possession
 
The seasons done for me so papering over the cracks in an attempt to put up some sort of fight is pointless. Start looking to next season. Loans will be a waste of money.
I know it sounds defeatist but this is the Blades. Can you really see us getting out of it?
 
We now try and absorb pressure and break, which is great but we can't absorb pressure without conceding a stupid goal, we don't attack with pace, don't have any direct/pacey/creative midfielders, and our attackers don't finish chances.

We basically look like Spurs last night, if they didn't have Kane, Son, Derek and Lloris.

No but I'd like us to go down with a fight rather than a whimper.
 
It's so difficult to judge if you are an outsider because we have no idea who is available for loan.

If you're giving it a go:

Henderson or Romero on loan
Colley on loan
Ozil on loan and send Ampadu back

You'd have a better keeper, a natural defender and albeit it very unlikely, 20 PL matches for Ozil over fewer U23 games would be more preferable I'm sure for the player and for the club even 30% saves them a few million and shifts him out of the way. It's clear Arteta doesn't want him there and this is exactly the sort of deal Big Sam will ask about.

Defenders, midfielders and strikers are the main things we need then, and a keeper if poss...........

I'd stick with Robinson at LCB, he was ok last night. Its midfield that we are desperately lacking in, particularly now Berge has done his hammy.
 
Believe it or not Emmanuel Dennis has been linked again. Only scored 1 goal for Club Brugge and they are allegedly willing to offload him for 7mil.
 
I'd do the following.

  • Get rid of Lunny to whoever will take him, it has been clear for a while that he is running down his contract and can't be having a good effect in the dressing room.
  • Sell Sander Berge and recoup what we can for him. Technically he is very good but he still is struggling to fit in to our system, and if after a year he can't then maybe he never will.
  • Bring in on loan a left-sided centre back who can perform at this level, even better if we have got pace. JOC has been our biggest miss this season
  • Romero on loan from Man Utd if possible. Not a criticism of Ramsdale, still think he will be a superb goalkeeper in time, but his confidence looks shot at the minute, and taking him out of the firing line will be beneficial to him in the longer term
  • A defensive midfielder on loan. Not overcooking the Besic love in, but i think a snarling, dog of war to play alongside Fleck is the way to go, and will help us shift to a 5-2-1-2 and let us play McGoldrick as a CAM who i think would in turn, turn us in to a more potent attacking threat
 
In reply to the OP, I struggle to see the benefit of having any activity with regards players joining us during this transfer window. We're down already. The Prince says we're looking for two loans, possibly (=no permanent transfers), and that coupled with the fact Chris will remain at the helm, I can't see us starting to build up a team for the upcoming Championship campaign. For better or for worse. Plus I wouldn't trust Chris with any sort of transfer kitty anymore. As for us offloading players, I can't see Lunny has really had left the club with choices. A must sell, but if the Rangers/Burnley will only pay peanuts, then not sell but make the lad to train with the U9 players. If and when he goes for free in the summer, he should not have any access to the comforts due to first team players. Berge won't be sold now that he's played sh*te and is injured. Otherwise we'd be good to get rid off him. O'Connell won't be sold as he's injured - and shouldn't be sold, either. I doubt anyone will come for Egan in January, but I'm expecting us to loose him come the summer. If someone came with £2m for McBurnie, I think we should sell him. Also Bogle and Lowe, possibly for some £500 000 of them both, I think we ought to sell them.
 
Tell me any player signed in the last few windows for whom we could recoup our outlay ?
Most are worth substantially less than we paid for them , especially the higher value ones.

IN this entire fantasy football thread did anyone mention that some board members voted against the Derby transfers (sensibly) as we were over budget.
That before Wilders McBurnie lovein bore the inevitable relegation that it is bringing. NOT envisaged at the time. A mere £100miin per year loss for subsequent seasons.
Have anyone postulated Chelsea recalling Ampadu?
And so to bed, perchance to dream, of better times!
 
We obviously needed cover for our rwb position after freeman left lol. What was the plan if Baldock got injured play basham as a rampaging rwb? 😂
 



LCB to replace O Connell.

Another CB to supplement Egan.

Attacking Midfielder

Possibly a defensive Midfielder too.

Either play Verrips or sign competition for Ramsdale. Loan out or get rid of the goalies who are never going to play Verrips /Fotheringhay/ Moore

Bring back Freeman and RND from loan.

Move Lundstram out (I like him but if he won't sign then time to move him on).

Loan out Norwood (we can have him back next season in the Championship if that's where we end up.)

Send out Lowe on loan (we will have RND as cover)

Sell Berge (even though I bought a very expensive bobble hat with his name on it 😵)

Decide what we are doing with Rodwell.

Time for a clear out. Lots of stuff to put in the loft and decide if we need it next year. If we do, then we can blow the cobwebs off it then.
