I've been thinking we could maybe do with a director of football myself considering the recruitment has been shocking when we've now actually had money to spend. How wilder would react I dont know but surely if you want to be successful and be a premier league club this has to be the way forward, van vinkel I really know nothing about tho.
 
If the worst should happen and CW walks (convinced he won't get pushed as the Prince has too much respect for him no matter how this season unfolds) the guy to take over, even probably on an initial short term basis, would be van Winckel. Anyway, Chris isn't going anywhere so no need to worry. Let's not give the pigs something else to gloat about.

I don’t think Van Winckel will ever take up a role as head coach or as manager. He is more the technical director type who has an international network, scouts players and arranges transfers. He will also advice on the new technical staff to be appointed if the current want would be replaced at some point.

I tend to agree re the longer term option but he does hold a UEFA Pro qualification so is certainly qualified but I'm almost sure he would be brought in as caretaker unless we get to the point where a replacement has already been spoken to.

I'm going to be honest but I can't see PA being the sort of person to fuck someone over behind their back by getting someone else in place and then binning CW.

Its time we took some of the pressure of CW. He surely cant have time to read scout reports and everything else that goes with recruitment. Time to let him just coach the players?

I agree tbh.

Part of CW's issue at the moment is that he has been very vocal over the last 4 years about having total control over 1st team matters and he point blank refused to allow PA to give JVW the DOF role.

This is fine when things are going well, as per the last 4 years, but you don't really have anywhere to hide if things turn to shit like they are at the moment. The long and the short of it is that CW has had a lot of money to spend and at present it doesn't look like it has been spent that well.

Put it this way if we're still rock bottom come Jan 1st and looking as good as relegated already then would you give CW a load more money if you were PA?

Hope he enjoys managing in League 2 in a few years. If Wilder leaves, we will go a very fast downward spiral. Abdullah doesn't care about the Blades, he prefers to buy other clubs rather than investing in the Blades.

You do know that it's just become a whole lot more difficult to recruit players from abroad, including Europe, don't you?

There's no way of bringing promising previously unheralded players in as they are very unlikely to qualify for a work permit.

Now if we want to bring Messi or Schweinsteiger in then that should be no problem 😉

Winckel made the promises to Slav during his interviews, then tried to backtrack, hence the public pleas, and the lack of anything from the club.
